Lifelong Steelers Fan, son of a Lifelong Steelers Fan, Brother of two Lifelong Steelers Fans. Never have I seen anything so stupid attached to the Steelers name. Well, except for Bubby Brister.
Steeler football has a unique tradition and a rabid following. We don't need a foam filled critter to fire up the crowd. WE ARE THE STEELER NATION. That fire burns from within. The memory of the steelworker that built Pittsburgh, along with most of America is the all the inspiration we need. That steelworker was our grandfather, father, uncle or neighbor and their proud history will live forever. We need to honor that history with respect and not turn it into a cartoon.
The Steelers should NOT have a mascot, let alone a STUPID looking one with such a stupid name. We do not need one...the same goes for cheerleaders. We are all business...that is why the Steelers are so special!!!
Do away with this ridiculous mascot, and his even more ridiculous name. If you feel that we need a symbol, try cheerleaders. They don't look like Bill Cowher, and come with their own names.
My family has had season tickets to the Steelers since they came up with the idea of season tickets (Starting with Grandpa, passed to my Dad, and now to me). Our team has a tradition of hard nosed, no frills football. This is why we don't have cheerleaders. I don't like the fact that we need to have a mascot that completely spits in the face of this tradition.
I already live in Chicago with homosexuals everywhere...the last thing I need is for my beloved Steelers to be seen as fruity because of this Barney-like Mascot...Steel Beam stick figure mascot, named Man of Steel??? Anyone, anyone?
WHAT JAGOFF PICKED STEELY MCBEAM? THE MASCOT LOOKS LIKE SOME BAD JOKE OUT OF CLEVELAND AND THE NAME IS JUST GAY.BURN THE GAY MASCOT AND GET RID OF THE GAY ,LAMO NAME.
Steely is great!! I'm a 74-yr-old lifelong Steeler fan. We've needed this for 50 years. My wife has cancer, which is terminal. My only hope is that she lives long enough to see Steely parading up and down the sidelines.
