I don't believe the Steelers need a mascot - but if the Steelers organization insists, you can't tell me that out of 70,000 entries, that the best they could do was
Wow. Finally a mascot that is actually more pathetic that the 'hogettes'. The People of Washington at last have something that we can point to and laugh at without feeling insecure about rooting for a group of 60 year old men who like to dress in drag and wear pig noses... Or maybe Pissburgh should keep this mascot; I'm sure it will be a driving force in this year's 6-10 season for the Steel City.
Mascot and Steelers do not go together... this is football not kiddy entertainment! i mean we go to the game to watch football, not some stupid, pointless mascot dance around like some moron
We don't need a moscot. This is just an embarrassment and just a ploy to sell more crap. When nobody buys it, it will disappear. Are the Rooneys really this desperate for more money?
There was a great band called 'Steely Dan.' So, maybe change the name to 'Dan Steely,' and use it as a Rooney spin on it (and a play on the band's name) plus a touch of the original (and horrendous) McBeam name..to save face at least.
We haven't had a mascot for 75 years, so why do we need one now. Steely McBeam is a cheesy name and something tougher should've been picked to represent the greatest team in sports or should be removed forever.
Honestly, ridiculous. Pittsburgh has not had a mascot for 75 years, we do not need one now. Especially because we are getting made fun of on the sports centers...
The chosen name Steely Mcbeam sounds too childlike and does not represent the strength of our Steelers, it's fans or our city. The name should sound strong ,as steel is. Also, the name implies that the mascot is endorsed by Mcdonalds. If we have to have a mascot he should look strong and tough and have a name that demands respect.
I'm a Bengals fan, and even I am embarassed for the Steelers. Since I live here though, I don't want to hear this daily on the news. It is childish and the league is going to have a field day with this. It embarasses us all!
The name sounds like some cheesy McDonald's happy meal. What do we need with a mascot anyway? We've gotten along fine without either a mascot or cheerleaders. It's about the football stupid.
