We don't have cheerleaders and we don't need a mascot. The Steelers stand on their own! Black and gold, for better, for worse. This mascot is a joke. It's way too cartoonish.
Mascots are for college and amateur sports. Professionals should be professional. My Steelers are too great to have some stupid mascot running around.I'm so embarassed and Steelers mgmt should be too.
Why the McDonald's theme? This name is so stupid, not to mention the mascot itself is stupid. Pittsburgh is a hard working steel town and we have pride in that. It's not a fast food joint where everyone is smiling like this stupid mascot
The name is terrible, the outfit is terrible, the whole idea is terrible. (And I dont mean in a terrible towel kind of way!) Please, save us from the ridicule before it's too late.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY I LOVE MY HOME CITY OF PITTSBURGH. I DONT MIND THE MASCOT BUT THE NAME NEEDS TO GO. INSTEAD OF HAVING A MASCOT WHY NOT CHEERLEADERS OR BOTH.
What were the Rooneys thinking??? I am so opposed to the mascot I do not know where to start. We have become a laughing stock, I understand the concept of the mascot but the Steeler organization doesn't need this to build fanbase, sell tickets or more merchandise. In fact I believe this will hurt them if they continue as the one constant with the Steeler organization is pride and the ability to stand above the crowd. All this does is sink us to everybody else's level. Have some class and end it before it stope.
Please end this madness. A mascott will not bring on new fans. Kids pick teams based what their parents or friends pick either wirh them or just to go against them. And Steeler fans are real fans not bandwagon fans. Loose Steely please.
I am speechless. My buddies are hammering me non stop about this and I have nothing to say. How can you defend this? One of my friends went as far as to say that next year they will introduce Steely's side kick, Lugnut, a 3 lb minature weiner dog.
Steeler Nation is about tradition! Why do we have to try to be like all of the other teams that need silly mascots to draw a crowd? Pittsburgh Nation will sell out every game with a mascot or WITHOUT!!!!!!
A mascot was invented for fans who need to be provoked during a sporting event...Steelers fans are the best in the world so we don't need a mascot telling us to cheer more!...plus if you would provoke a Steelers fan anymore than they already are during a Steelers game especially with a name as questionable as Steele McBeam in most situations your most likely risking your life...
Why do we need a mascot?...next, we'll have half-naked cheerleaders. We don't need either!! If we keep the mascot, how about getting rid of the chin dimple and giving it a masculine name since it will be the representation of the most powerful team in the NFL??!!
