Description of Petition:

After more than 30 years of waiting for his final "day in court," former
U. S. Army special forces captain John J. McCarthy, Jr., now has an
opportunity to gain full vindication as to the events surrounding the U.
S. Central Intelligence Agency's conduct during its secrecy-shrouded,
treasonous rogue operation called "Project Cherry" -- treasonous because
the project had defied presidential proscription against its very
existence, whose centerpiece aimed at assassinating one or more high
officials of the Vietnam-era Cambodian government.

Background:

Based on certain whistleblower-derived evidence (and the potential for
more), along with some eye-opening State Department-revealed records,
McCarthy's victimization as a CIA fall guy has become ripe for further
investigation and exposure, leading to full accountability for those who,
through their wanton criminal actions, have brought shame and disdain upon
the good name of the United States in foreign affairs. For details about

Text of Petition:

-- Whereas, we, the undersigned citizens, expect all our institutions,
government agencies, and their officials to set an example in adhering to
the rule of law;

-- Whereas, we know that no agency official past or present can forever
evade or thwart the accountability that underpins that law;

-- Whereas, certain CIA officials continue to stonewall public access to
all records pertaining to "Project Cherry";

-- Whereas, no government agency has any legal authority to invoke
provisions of "national security" classification to deny public access to
records revelatory of treasonous conduct (or any other high crime); and

-- Whereas, the pertinent grand jury holds in its hands the key to this
too-long suppressed information critical to sound public-policy oversight

We hereby petition the U. S. attorney for the District of Columbia to
proceed immediately with empaneling a special grand jury to exercise its
investigatory-and-reporting function upon the
policies/practices/events/principals related to "Project Cherry" and its
aftermath.
