I wholeheartedly agree with this position. Mr. Harper has thoughtlessly promoted a stance that does nothing to forward a resolution to the conflict. It serves no purpose to blindly support one side over the other. We must look objectively, and resist the temptation to denounce one side's violence while turning a blind eye to the other. The whole historical picture must be taken into account. Only in this way can we move forward and take truly effective measures to end this deadly conflict.

I was one of the unfortunate ones stuck in the madness of Beirut during just a few days. I felt that I did not receive any support or real guidance from the Canadian embassy. I thank God that my parents, through people they knew, were able to provide me a safe passage to Damascus with the Saudi embassy! I feel dissapointed that a foreign country was able to provide me what my own country was not, the evacation from a war zone! When trying to gaine more information, I contacted the emergency hotline on Ottawa, were it was explained to me whaht was the official stand of Canada, then the attendent added:"but you know there are 43000 Canadians in Lebanon" It is at this point that I decided to seek refuge with an other, more responsive, governemt. I do understand that it is an incredible endenvor, but I also understsand that the governents should protect their expatriots out of harms way!

As a Canadian Jew, I am appalled by Israel's illegal and brutal assault on civilians in Gaza and Lebanon. I expect my government to uphold international law and do everything in its power to stop the Israeli assault.

Mr. Harper, you're making me ashame to be Canadian. I do not support this disproportionate attack and you've lost my already non existing support for your government.
israel is acting as a rogue nation. the solution lies in demanding israel to stop committing war crimes. the "only democracy in the middle east" does not give equal rights to all of its citizens, because they are not jewsih. this is racism. and the actions israel now takes are racist. and it must be stopped.
