I am outraged by the position taken by Mr. Harper regarding the aggressive response by Israel. The indiscriminate killing of civilians cannot be justified on any level. I am appalled and angry. I hope that Mr. Harper doesn't think that diverting his plane to Cyprus will make people forget what his position is.

Why doesn't Israel resolve the Palestinian issue once and for all, and give the Palestinians their own state and their own citizenship? This would go a long way towards marginalizing the extremists. If the Palestinians had their own state and their own citizenship, the extremists would no longer gain support among the populations. This is what it is all about. The right to exist has to go both ways!
Innocent Lebanese men, women, and children, Muslim and Christian, are dying and Harper thinks it's justified? Canada is a peace loving nation and our leaders should reflect our foreign policy that is founded diplomacy and promotes peace. It's time for another election.
Lebanon and its people are peaceful nation, and do not deserve the savage Israeli attacks being exerted every minute on the Lebanese soil and civil properties
WAR IS NOT THE WAY TO ACHIEVE PEACE. IT ONLY LEADS TO MORE VIOLENCE AND WAR. DEMOCRACY MEANS THAT ALL OPINIONS, EVEN THOSE WITH WHICH WE DO NOT AGREE, HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE EXPRESSED AND REPRESENTED.
Official Canadian support of this attack on children and infrastructure has put us to shame and destroyed the hopes I had for Canada to be a nation of peace brokers. Your legitimacy as minority government leader is ruined in my eyes and you need to resign now.

As a man who presents himself as an intellectual pragmatist it would seem to me that any support of Israel's military attack on Lebanon by you and your party contradicts the very national image the Canadian government is responsible for upholding -- that of a peace loving, compassionate, and tolerant nation. Any support of this state sponsored terrorism is not what Canadians want. Regardless of the fact that I did not vote for you or your party, I do believe that your level-headedness and leadership qualities are more usefully spent promoting peace and democracy internationally.
Condoning the destruction of Lebanon is doing no favors to the people of Israel or any of her neighbors. Since the USA will not act responsibly, Canada must do so independently.
Will the destruction of Lebanon really create security for the Lebanese and Israeli population? Just like the Irak invasion created security for the Iraki and American population?
