Conservative support for the aggressive policies of the US and Israeli governments is strongly opposed and does not reflect traditional Canadian values.
I support this petition because I believe that there is no justifcation for the amount of force being used by Israel against the Lebanese people. The death toll speaks for itself...
The Israeli government has repeatedly gone too far, Mr. Harper is going in the United States in covering up war crimes-- the integrity and ethics Mr. Harper campaigned on now seems to have come full circle.
For shame, indeed, Mr. "Steve" Harper... You will have to rely totally on your right-wingnut, fundamentalist Christian following to get elected again--If I have ANY influence during the next election campaign; and I plan to TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE in that election campaign!
Canada should prevail on both Israel and the Hizboulah to settle their issues and NOT bomb civilain targets in Lebanon specially the airport jeopardizing the safety and security of thousands of civilians.
This destruction could have been prevented. MR Harper and his party have set a terrible
example. This minority is acting at odds with what I believe are positive Canadian values. We could work with both sides of the conflict to make peace and harmony.
Please recall that all human beings have the fundamental right to peace and security. I was of the impression that this was a value supported by our country. Your endorsement of Israeli aggression is a clear sign of under-utilized consiousness. Please try to represent all Canadians with your actions overseas, rather than the opinions and biases of our Southern neighbour's administration.
If it's helpful to you to know this Mr. Harper, there are orthodox Jews against the invasion of Lebanon. Please see www.nkusa.org as well as thousands of moderate Israelis of every denomination.
Canada needs to making peace, not taking sides. I want this warring madness to stop. We need to putting energy adn resources into peacemaking. Why not try making peace rather than war.
The atrocities in Lebanon should not be supported but should be stopped. Canada is supposed to be a Peacemaker nation not a violence enabler. Mr. Harper, act like a Canadian Peacemaker and not a killer.
The hostilities must cease immediately and the UN General Assembly must discuss and vote on a proposal to impose reparations on Israel for war damages to rebuild Lebanon.
The Israelis are violating their own code of ethics by inflicting anti-semitism primarily onto the Lebanese Muslim majority. After all, Muslims are also Semites. I fear that the bombing attrocities in Lebanon will spark another round of anti-semitism against soft Jewish targets around the world.
Israel is targeting the entire Lebanese people not just Hezbollah. How foolish and short-sighted can the present leadership of Israel get in carrying out these crimes against humanity.
Israel should be forced to make restitution to rebuild after this war is over for the over $3B USD (and growing)in destruction of Lebanese infrastructure and homes it has destroyed with the USD made laser bombs.
After what they have done this time with impunity, with their superior army, navy and airforce firepower against a defenseless people, any reasonable person could not defend their actions. There will be repercussions world-wide.
Please remember that we are all implicated in the continuance of violence and we are all responsible for its end. I urge you and the Government of Canada as strongly as possible to stop supporting Israeli violence immediately.
