Harper's statement shows his disregard for the fundamental issue of justice for displaced Palestinian families and will fuel hatred for Canada's alliance with disastrous U.S. policies and actions.
The use of overwhelming military
force in today's world
is obscene. It will NOT make Israel or any
nation safer. Canada's reputation will sink with that of the U.S. if we don't correct our position. Shameful.
the day after harper supported the israeli action 8 canadian civillians were killed. Now a canadian soldier perished as a UN observer when Israel dropped a precision guided bomb. Wise move Harper
It is inconceivable in this day and age that any thinking human being would call any act of violence measured. Violence is not a thoughtful act. In fact the continuum of violent acts from hitting a child to bombing a country are irrational and unable to be measured.
killing civilians is not justifiable under no circumstances. Shame on the supporters of terror and war, whoever they might be, even my prime minister. Stop the war!

Ilustre: Prime Minister You now more than us this is not a measured war, this is not Self Defence war, what I see is a premeditated war an everybody can see it
I support this pettition because I have immigrated to Canada to live in a peacemaker. next time might be my country's turn. then I would be staying in a country which supports the one who is bombing my family.
A one-sided support in a conflict does little to help end it and much to inflame the situation. As a Jew, I ask that you also support the Arab side. yours, Fred
Canadians will not forget this opportunistic and self-serving act committed by Stephen Harper in the name of Canada’s Prime Minister. What a drastic contrast with Lester Pearson’s conduct when he was faced with a very similar challenge in the same part of the world, fifty years ago. Pearson’s courageous stand against Britain and France and their strategic ally Israel coupled with his shrewd diplomacy (calling for an immediate cease fire) earned him the 1957 Noble Peace Prize and brought Canada the distinguished status of The Peacemaker of the world.
Whose support and recognition Harper is striving to gain by tarnishing Canada’s world renowned status as an honest peace broker and to what aim?!
Military killings of civilians is not acceptable. Supporting such violence violates Canada's own efforts to become a democracy. I am ashamed by the Prime Minister's comments. He does not represent MY ideal for Canada.
Canada cannot blindly follow a pro-Israeli position on a conflict of this nature. Stephen Harper does not represent me, and I am deeply ashamed by his recent position on this issue.
