I suggest you run for the position of Prime Minister of Israel instead of Canada next time, becasue it is shameful to us as Canadians to have a fanatic person as Prime Minister
It is terrible that the holocaust happened. However, that has absolutely nothing to do with the state of Israel, it is foolish to confuse the two.
Israel has become one of the most agressive world powers. Instead of concentrating on oil rich countries, why don't the world powers try to stop these agressive war mongers?
I don't understand, why the international community is not doing anything to stop the death of so many innocents. I wish the government of Canada would speak up and defend those who are suffering in Lebanon.
The killing of Jews in Germany more than half a century is still remebered but the killing of thousands of Arabs over the last few days and years is forgotten, thanks to God's "chosen" people.
I support this petition because I am afraid that the kind of violence the Canadian government is trying to justify or remain complicit to is likely to lead to enormous violence not just in the Middle East but worldwide.
The country who is well known for its services towards elderly and children, now sitting quietly and watching the massacre of children in lebanon, what a hipocarcy???
After the killing of UN observers, includingone Canadian, the killing of members of a Canadian family, the deliberate bombing of airports and roads, and villagers, I urge you to condemn this war and call for an immediate ceasefire.
Mr. Harper you queried what were the Canadian peacekeepers doing when their station was bomber. I have the answer. THEY WERE DOING THEIR JOBS. Maybe Mr. Harper should learn from this and do HIS job - instead of protecting Israeli and U.S. interests world wide.
So "Steve", supporter of the USIAN war machine, where are you hiding? Now that your robust and measured respose is being reflected in a significant drop in popularity what will you do?Be a Canadian "Steve" be reasonable.Return us to our role as "Peacekeepers".
because violence always begets more violence. I think Mr. Harper has written his own epitaph, the Prime Minister who let his belief that he is right blind him to the truth.
Canada Pension Plan investments in military companies are supporting the Israeli military atacks in Lebanon. This makes Canadians complicit in this war and we wnat this to stop.
When will you offer your condoleances to the Canadian Lebanese family who lost 8 family members? You claim to be a Christian, then act as one and condemn to killing of innocent civilians.
HOW MANY MORE BABIES WILL HAVE TO DIE????
We are appalled at the genocide.Mr. Harper, consult compassionate, informed and resourceful Canadian people rather than falling into lock step with the Americans.
As a Canadian who happens to be of Jewish background, I am appalled at Israel's actions, which are neither measured nor self-defense and will only lead to further violence on both sides. Not calling for an immediate ceasefire is to condone more civilian deaths. Canada's shame.
Shame on you, Mr. Harper!!!
Let Us Stay True to Canadian Values
Two years ago, Canada’s foreign policy towards the Near East made an about-turn and adopted a complaisant stance towards Israel, thereby jeopardizing its traditional neutral standing.
It is now clear that our conservative government has chosen its side in the current Near East crisis. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s pronouncement that the Israeli retaliation is “justified” and “measured” in these circumstances comes unexpected and is pregnant with contradiction. Mr. Harper’s declaration coincides temporally with the deaths of eight Canadians killed in the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Surely a “measured” retaliation does not translate into the deaths of 340 civilians in Lebanon against the deaths of 15 civilians and 14 non civilians in Israel, the imposition of a mass departure of tourists and the migration of 500 000 Lebanese.
In this conflict, it is essential that the Canadian government adopt a course of action that is lucid, just, and true to Canadian values: respect of international law, respect of human rights, respect of human liberty and dignity. Nevertheless, Canada must support UN initiatives aimed at solving this crisis.
Présence Musulmane Canada believes that Mr. Harper is guilty of bad judgment and that he is displaying great insensitivity in this affair, notably towards the Lebanese and the Palestinians. The situation is very complex and cannot be solved through simplistic analysis. We would hate to see Canada lose its soul in this conflict
