I am very disappointed in the postion of the Conservative Party, if Prime Minister Harper would have had his way when he was in opposition we would be in Iraq now too! i will never vote for this party again!
It appears that the tragic lessons of WWI & II are all but forgotten. Using military muscle at any pretext will have tragic consequences for the world. It is a call to all nations that the only way to settle disputes is thru military means. Alas, the 21st century promises to be bleaker all that has gone before.
Please don't try to give us a fairy story about an innocent Israel defending itself against terrorists in Lebanon when Israel itself has been guilty of terrorist acts over many years & is not or has not shown its intention to try to seek a peaceful solution to the violence & the horror & suffering their aggression heaps on the innocent. We want you to be an example of a PeaceMaker Prime Minister who uses diplomacy & goodwill to try to bring about peace between those invovled in the present Israeli-Palestinian, Israeli-Lebanese conflict. Compromise & goodwill will bring Peace. Placing blame & taking sides in this complex middle east conflict will serve only to exacerbate the problem. You must remain neutral & vow to help all the Nations involved not just Israel. Please look at the history of the Middle East Peace Process & how Canada & the Canadian Military can help both sides to stop the war. Look at the reasons war is taking place not simply at the players as though the whole thing is a big political chess game. May God Our Father send His Holy Spirit to guide, rule & guard your decisions. Many of us are praying for you & those who are making decisions for us Canadians & for the rest of the world's citizens so that God's Will be followed not man's. As a hospital worker I am appalled that 2 Lebanese hospitals have been bombed and that civilians have been deliberately targetted by the Israeli military.
I am afraid that canada loses its historical peace player in the world after mr. harper mistake...he should be more human and open his both eyes...lebanon today is areal HOLOCAUST.
The middle eastern conflict has gone on for far too long. It is time that Canada and the other countries of the world help Israel/Palestine come up with a solution that is good for both sides not just one! will the conflict truly be over. It is time for peace in the middle east.
If you honestly wanted to help the Canadians in Lebanon, you should be doing everything you can to bring about a ceasefire, not cheering for war crimes. Israel must stop killing civilians.
What can Americans do? They too are under Israeli occupation. Their leaders just pledged allegiance to Israel today and confirmed to forever be subservient and of service to the State of Israel.

The Toronto Globe and Mail has confirmed that Israel has now bombed the only remaining electrical generating station that until now was operational to the south of Gaza City. Gaza, completely sealed like an open prison has a population of which almost half is under age 15. Dr. Khalid Dahlan, a psychiatrist who heads a children's community project has been reported in the press as saying, "The statistic I personally find unbearable is that 99.4% of chldren that we studied suffer trauma--99.2% had their homes bombarded; 97.5% were exposed to tear gas; 96.6% had their homes witnessed a shooting; a third saw family members or neighbours injured or killed." These children suffer unrelenting nightmares and "night terrors". They are now to be punished further as electricity increasingly disappears in the Gaza Strip: electricity for hospitals and community services locations; electricity to refrigerate food (what there is of it that is left). The Israelis have sealed the territory as tight as a drum: non-Israelis no longer enter or leave.
