Signatures #100 through #200 for the Bring Melanie Martinez back to petition

I support this petition because my 13 month old daughter loves Melanie. Her face lights up when she hears Melanie's voice. Melanie's spunk and personality made the Good Night Show what it is...will never be the same without her! We are disgusted at PBS's decision. We sent an email to them expressing our thoughts, but did not get a response...doubt we will ever! We have stopped watching the show. Bring Melanie back!!

I think Melanie is a great hostess! She is one of the good things on TV today. Kids just love her!!! It is unfair to fire her for some videos made in her past, long before she started the show. It isn't like she made them yesterday while workingon the show!-Melanie is now a mother of a toddler, I don't think she would do anyhting like that again. She knows better now. Melanie has a great connection with the children out there. Now many children ask, where is Melanie??-she will not be forgotten... If anyone remembers the the 1970's show Land of the Lost when the dad is sent home for unexplained reasons-many children in my generation asked why? how?..and over 30 years later, people are still asking about that...think about that!-Now what PBS had done to Melanie is put her into that same type of situation the "what ever happened to.." lore...many kids will ask why is she gone? what happened? and many parents are either going to have to lie or be brutally honest about why she was fired to their kids and that is not fair to the kids. We have al done things in our past that we have regretted and I am sure Melanie Martinez fits into this category too. I think she was dealt with too harshly compared to what others have said and done. Melanie shouldn't be made as an exmaple like that! Melanie is one good thing for kids to se eon TV, wihtout her, they might feel lost and confused. They'll always wonder why Melanie left them without saying good-bye at least. I still feel that about the Dad from land of the Lost-he never said good-bye to kids like me and I really never felt closure from that. Melanie is good thing the kids can count on these days-and one good thing on TV..who can say that about other shows, cartoons or other things out there. Melanie is a delightful, creative, artist, and a very good teacher too!-she bonds well with the kids and they like her very much..She is geunine, smart and p

I find it inappropriate that you decide to fire someone on the basis of an acting job, when you hired an actress. PBS Sprout and the Goodnight Show should be ashamed of the way this incident has been handled. Shall I tell my child that if she doesn't like something about a person past, she should cut them out of her life? Is this the impression you want to give my child?

How trivial can PBS SPROUT be? I kept looking at Thomas the Train and seeing George Carlin's name there, and wondered if it was the same person. I am totally shocked that PBS would stoop to remove such a wonderful Hostess. I was so impressed with Melanie, that I tried to find out information about her some time ago. I thought perhaps she had taken another job. I am a caregiver of two little girls 4 and 5 and have a 3 yr old granddaughter, and I am so saddened to learn of this decision to dismiss Melanie Martinez. You can rest assure that we will NOT be viewing THE GOOD NIGHT SHOW until and unless Melanie comes back. The girls love and I loved her and looked forward to each afternoon, sitting down together and listening and watching Melanie... MELANIE... WE'RE PRAYING THAT YOU CAN COME BACK !!! YOU ARE MISSED!!!

This young woman does a wonderful job of hosting The Good Night Show. Children love her! What her role as an actress 7 years ago has nothing to do with the role she is currently playing. Melanie is the Sprout Good Night Show-without her it's worthless to watch. Also email huggies threatening a boycot!

YOU'RE FIRED!! Get off you high horse you stinking Communist. Melanie was the only reason my daughter watched the show anyway. By the way I will be asking Directv to replace your progamming with something more appropriate for my kids, so they don't have to be part of your Maoist, Stalinist, Castro thought policing, self righteous propoganda. I think Melaine should be aloud to stay what we do in our life should not always be judged or held against us...So everyone makes a misteaks...Besides does it really matter to our young children what she did NO! The viewers for her show are to young to know the difference...Give the girl a break she is wonderful for our children..My four yr old just loves to watch her and ask to watch her everynight...She will be heart broken when I tell have to tell her when she asks where is Melaine and I have to say she won't be on anymore..

She engages the children and makes them smile. To me that is the most important part of her job. BRING HER BACK, or let us look into the excs pasts.

PBS's decision is completely hypocritical. George Carlin, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, various SNL actors & many far more controversial individuals are openly invited to appear in PBS shows geared toward children. My child would never be exposed to watch a video called "Technovirgin" so I am positive there would NEVER be any role-confusion. PBS made a mistake on this one.....the children want to see Melanie back on the GNS.

Please bring Melanie back. This harsh decision by PBS was taken to quickly. As you can see parents are not concerned about their kids viewing "Technical Virgin". By the time they are old enough to understand that, they won't be interested in PBS Kids anymore! She is an ACTRESS and that was her job. There are many actors that make racy movies or comedy shows and then do things for kids. Angelina Jolie is an embassador for kids in foreign countries and look at all the stuff she's been through. Melanie had a job and did it well. PBS should be proud of their Good Night Show creation....don't let this destroy it. People will find somewhere else to go because watching those cartoons without the host does not make it an experience my child and I can participate in together anymore...now it would just be "watching TV" and that was not the point of watching in the evening. Bring her back.

In view of the obvious double standard in evidence, and the lack of sensitivity ( to the children) exhibited by PBS, I have to wonder what other agenda you are serving. What's the REAL reason, hmmm?? Did some controller of the meager funds you get from the government threaten you? Or if you have some other beef with Melanie, this is not the way to handle it. Viewers are jerked around enough by regular broadcast TV; it shouldn't start when they are little kids.

Let me get this straight: The network that had George "7 Words You Can't Say on Television" hosting a kids' show for years, while he was still doing tours of his stand-up routine, has fired Melanie for some satirical internet videos she did seven years ago? Are you people nuts? How many toddlers do you think watched those videos made before they were born? They know nothing about them... and would still be in happy ignorance, watching their friend Melanie, if you hadn't gone off your rockers and decided this would be a good way to pander to the loud minority of right-wing-nuts who can't stand reality, let alone humour, in any form. Grow up! There's still time for you to pass off Melanie's absence as a vacation if you re-hire her quickly. With an apology. To her and to the millions of anxious children whom you've just devastated far more than Melanie ever did. Sheesh!

PBS has put parents in the position of having to lie to their children. I see this as an opportunity to teach our children that even though we sometimes make mistakes (and I don't think I would call Melanie's participation in these videos a mistake) we can change our life around by making positive choices for ourselves. You took a positive and made it a negative. Melanie was a person that our kids watched and loved and ended each day with dance and music and turned it into just another boring time slot. These kids will never know or care what some dope posted on the internet. If we teach our kids forgiveness how do we explain you fired someone for a past mistake that seems very trivial? With all the negatives on the radio and TV this was a positive and productive time slot for all the parents and kids. The fact there are so many parents and grandparents who are upset and writing in should be telling you that PBS made a BIG mistake. Melanie wasn't just a person to these kids she was their friend. How do you suggest we explain her disappearance? Sure seems like PBS didn't worry about taking the time to explain. One night she is on and the next she is fired and you leave us wondering what happened and now we learn we have to come up with some lie to cover up a mistake you people made to the kids. This is the lesson you wanted to tach these kids when you fired her for making some video where she says a few words that you didn't like? This is a major problem the internet has. Idiots who don't stop to think before putting things on there that people in their pasts have done. Let's all stand up and be judged. Can we all stand up to that trial? Make whole again what you messed up and bring Melanie back!
