I am certainly glad that no one looked at my past to give me "permission" to be a good parent years later. Melanie shouldn't be faulted for moving beyond those videos.
... I really cant believe this. God help us all indeed. Its getting to the point where living in some communist country might actually be quite a bit freer then here. I am appalled and for lack of a better word.. pissed off.
You have got to be kidding me? You fired her over THAT SHORT? The president was a drunk and coke addict? How do you feel about HIS past? You people are losing it. No wonder support for PBS is waning. You've been taken over by a bunch of holier-than-thou hypocrites. God help my country.
P.S. Thanks. Now I'll turn off PBS read to my kids at bedtime.
come on stop being asses about this and bring the poor girl back. what she did in the past is the past. stop keeping records of wrong. i'm sure some one from PBS did wrong in the past like drugs and drinking that kids don't need to know. but they still have a job. she does a really good job that at times i get caught up watching with my kids and am starting to like the shows. let anyone who has not commited a sin throw the first stone........i thought so.
I appreciate your attempt to try to protect my son, but that is my job and he loves watching Melanie and her behavior on the show is nothing but pure. He has no knowledge of her past mistake and enjoys the person that she is now.
her past programs have virtually no bearing on her present performance ability. If she has proven competent enough and appropriate enough at her job at PBS, why then is there any reason to fire her? This act is pigheadedness at its highest.
This hypocrisy is not what we should teach our children. The point about comparing MM's past to her current job vs. W's past and HIS current job is a good one.
I understand keeping things clean but with PeeWee back in the business and Jens' reference to George Carlin its nice to see that the double standard system is still in effect
I thought the videos were funny, and ultimately had a good message behind them. Get off her nuts and hire her back. Infact, give her lots of money, so she can go out and buy young females more vibrators so they're not getting knocked up and our teen pregnancy rate skyrockets.
Melanie was actually honest and forthcoming. Who better to teach the children than such a person? Does PBS want to send a message to the children viewers that lies and cover-ups are good while truthfulness and openess are band and cause trouble? PBS is a disgrace and should not be airing childrens' shows if this is their attitude. Give Melanie her job back, with a raise and, most importantly, apologize!
