oh my god... she made a sex joke a decade ago? 2 -5 year olds can't look up to people who made sex jokes a decade ago... fire that woman immediately!!!
this incident happened 7 years ago! Are we all going to be punished indefinitly for our past mistakes. Life goes on, things change, we grow up. She's a mother now. I really don't believe she's going to do any harm to our children.
My boys love her! Bring her back! And shame on all of you for such a bad decision.
And Kudos to the folks that brought up the Thomas trivia, AMEN. If you have to get rid of her then it's only fair to wipe out good old Thomas. He might warp our kids minds too.
There was no need to dredge these videos from her past. These videos were done in a spirit of fun. How many things are you ashamed of that you have done that were done in other than a sense of intentional satire? There's no need to destroy one's life over this nonsense.
I openend the paper this morning and my daughter said "hey look it's Melanie, she's in the paper, I like her read what it says."
I really like her show and am disgused that she got fired because of something she said 7 years ago.
That is just not right. It should not have come back to bite her. She was great on the Good night show and my daughter and I would like to see her return!
Seven years is a long time, I believe it is even the state of limitations on several crimes. To be fired for a JOB she did seven years ago is not only insane, but should be illegal! I turn on Sprout because I know that the content has been approved for my niece. I don't expect, nor want, a background check. By the time the followers of Melanie learn about this, they will probably have seen a lot worse on commercials! I hope whoever made this decision doesn't get any more power. Then anything with Angela Lansbury(a role with suicide and premarital sex)and Julie Andrews(frontal nudity)will have to be destroyed also.
My children love Melanie. I think PBS is unfair on this issue as they have other, more famous actors on their programming that have MANY "inappropriate" programs on other stations.
It wasn't much fun making up excuses to our 3 yr old as to why Melanie is no longer on the show. We'll tell her the truth in 15 years and she'll still wonder what the fuss was about.
This is ridiculous. My kids love Melanie and will never see these 30-second clips. George Carlin, who is very foul-mouthed in his act, has narrated for Thomas and Friends. Dr. Ruth, well-known sex expert, has appeared regularly on Between the Lions. It doesn't seem fair that Melanie was fired for something like this. Please reconsider.
melanie did a wonderful job on sprouts. and it was wrong to fire her. we all have done stupid stuff in our pasts, especially if we were broke and hungry
Melanie was such a delightful host for the Good Night Show. My grandson misses her. He's only 3 and has no interest in anything she does beyond that TV screen. Goodness, George Karlin was the voice for Thomas the Train!
The last I heard this country still had free speech and freedom of association. Actors have the same the same rights we all do. As a concerned parent, I've read enough to know that so-called abstinence proggrams are ineffective at best, and at worst spread disinformation to kids. Geet real and give this actor back her job.
The moral panic is a symptom of screwed up priorities and/or the irrational pressure that social reactionaries are exerting on the nation's imagination. Bring Melanie Martinez back and put the reactionaries in their places.
Who ever fired Melanie probably did something worse 7 years ago. Kids love familiar things and Melanie being gone from the GOOD NIGHT SHOW, kids will stop watching. THIS WILL DROP THE SHOW'S RATINGS!!!
Please bring her back and save your brand. Is this another attempt by the religious right to control what we watch? We want her back NOW!!! My Family WILL boycott Sprout if this continues!
They called it "inappropriate language" for their audience. Their audience consists of Pre-K children. When are they going to see these videos or even know what is being talked about? It's not like she did it on PBS The Good Night Show and it was 7 years ago. Good grief, get over it!
