Ok, so she wasn't the greatest singer in the world, and her views on sex were very liberal. So What! She had a way of connecting with pre-school kids. Seven years is an eternity ago. She didn't say those comments 2 weeks or even 2 years ago. Your viewership will decline if you don't bring Melanie back and I'm as conservative as they come.

The content of Melanie's satire videos is harmless, and frankly, even if it were more explicit, I still wouldn't see a need to fire her for something in which she appeared 7 years ago.

When was the last time any parent really sat down and spoke to their teenagers about sex. Did they really listen! I saw the video and there is nothing inappropriate about it. Her sprout audience will never know the videos exist. I am a father of 4 boys and myyoungest who turns 2 in AUG totally loves the good night show. The fact that Melanie is willing to educate both the young and soon to be adults about doing the right thing is alot more than alot of people do if they tried. I comend you and support you in your desire to help todays young PBS is just jealous that they didn't support or create their own dialoge to help guide the future of this world. PBS grow up ...the kids are.

I support this petition because I am disappointed about the firing of the Good Night Show host Melanie Martinez. My 18 month old grandson really adored her.Whenever he heard her voice he ran to the TV and so did I because I knew how happy it made him and how much he learned from her. I think PBS management made a big mistake. Bring Melanie Back.

My 3.5 yr old daughter drew a “Come back Melanie” picture when I told her that Melanie changed jobs. My daughter asked me to mail the special picture to Melanie. I personally don't feel that the content of the old video was scandalous enough to immediately fire Melanie. The video appears to be adult humor, and many actors and comedians have done adult humor (like Robin Williams) before making a show for kids. I don’t think that any children would have seen the old video. Melanie is a fun character to the kids, and she is greatly missed. I think that the public image of Sprout keeping Melanie could have been managed, and Sprout firing Melanie brought much more attention to the situation than it would have received or deserved.

I am a stay at home mom with a 5 year old daughter. We have loved watching the Good Night Show, and my little girl especially enjoys (enjoyed) seeing Melanie. The decision to terminate her character's appearance on the show was in my opinion, unnecessary. The fact that she was in an independant short film that was inappropriate for children does not affect my opinion of her, Sprout, or PBS. The comedian George Carlin performs crude R-rated material AND narrates Thomas the Tank Engine without skipping a beat. Many other actors (Alec Baldwin for one) have both performed steamy sex scenes in movies and worked in children's movies and television programming. How is this any different? It isn't different at all. I believe Melanie to be a talented, hard working actress with a wide range. She seems to care about children as an actress and a mother. I am disappointed that PBS came to this decision. It is unfair to both Melanie Martinez and her fans, big and small.
