I just saw yesterday's article in the Chicago Tribune and I am appalled with Sprout's decision. I agree with the comments re: past/present voice over actors and their questionable past and present behavior. Why should we care about a 30 second video spot? It was prior to "The Goodnight Show" and it's not as though we are going to buy this video and show it to our kids. My daughter enjoys seeing Melanie and I'm greatly disappointed that Sprout would look for past indiscrepancies nad use this against Melanie. This sounds very childish and Sprout is being a big bully!
I am a mother of 4 who loved Sprout. It is ridiculious to fire someone for actions in the past that have no impact on their ability to do their job. Melanie is great- Bring her back!
PBS is run by a bunch of hypocrites!
You fire Melanie Martinez, but you keep sluts like Alison Bartlett as a main character on Sesame Street who posed Nude in a love scene on the Sopranos. The sopranos which is a show in which the actors only know how to say obscentities!
Our daughter doesn't watch much TV. But the small portion of her day that she watches is dedicated to Melanie. She is a great host, PLEASE BRING HER BACK!!!
Get over it. You're going to tell me that anyone from PBS doesn't have any skeletons in their closet. Hipocrates! It's not like she's a child molester....
How am I, a parent attempting to instill such values as acceptance, tollerance and forgiveness, suppose to explain to our child why her friend Melanie is no longer present on "The Good Night Show"?
They fired her over something that happened seven years ago. Yeah, what she talked about in those videos was nonsense, but come on, give the girl a break! It's not like she appeared in an adult movie or played an assassin. I think she's a beautiful woman with a great smile. My daughter who is almost 3 watched her and liked her.
My six year-old daughter loves "The Goodnight Show", Melanie and Star. I would have no problem at all with Melanie being on the show mainly because my daughter would never see any of the Technical Virgin stuff. PBS' decision is ridiculous and takes this right-wing hyper-sensitivity WAY too far. They should be ashamed of themselves. Good luck, Melanie, wherever you end up...
My 7 month old son loves Melanie. He would prefer a half hour of Melanie only and skip the cartoons. LOL. He lights up and laughs when she is on the screen. Her firing is ridiculous. Bring her back!!! Parents do not care about this video.
We don't really like the "Star" puppet though. The old format was much better. She was more closely engaged directly with the children before.
