I am disgusted by the firing of Melanie Martinez, when men like George Carlin can get by as the conductor of Thaomas even though he built his fame on base, demeaning, vulgar comedy. Flexing the corporate muscles because you are afraid that the hammer will fall on you is spineless and sad. We are boycotting PBS and it makes me happy to say that we will be looking for a more wholesome programming for our child since the people who run PBS are sucking off the religious right. We know that you watch porn and cheat on your wives... and yet we don't ask you to step down. Not until now.
I think Melanie does a great job hosting The Good Night Show. I've commented to my husband many times that she's just very pleasant. The Technical Virgin thing was obviously just a joke. It's not like she was posing for penthouse.

We watch Sprout EVERY night. I really don't think that what was on these videos (which were obviously jokes) is going to influence my 2 1/2 year old AT ALL! We love Melanie and want her back!!!
We are saddened by the rash decision to fire Melanie Martinez from the Goodnite Show. My daughter, Melanie, loves her. She thought it was the coolest that she had the same name as her and loved seeing her on TV. We were going to switch from DirecTV to cable to save money. My daughter cried every time we mentioned that Melanie was no longer going to be on TV. We ultimately decided to keep DirecTV for Sprout and Melanie. And we are typically not indulgent parents. Now, she keeps asking how come Melanie's not on TV. I guess we can switch to cable now.
My son loves Melanie on Sprout. You must keep her. Because of her my son has learned all kinds of things and said new words as well. We owe alot to her and I want my youngest to grow up with her too.
I don't care of the explict videos are on the internet - I control what my kids watch and they won't be seeing that. I bet there are some people working for PBS Sprout with shady pasts, will PBS be doing background checks and firing those people as well? They should if they are sticking to their words!
My son loves Melanie, and I'm pretty he doesn't know what a virgin is (nd even if he did, so what????) He wouldn't understand the fact that it was a parody, so wouldn't that be a positive thing, for him to think of someone he views as cool to be a virgin??
my daughter loves the good night show and melanie. As parents it is our reponsiblity to decide what is or is not apporiate for our children. Also as adult ther our aspects to all our lives that are nobodies bussiness including our childerns.
