Melanie was the best part of PBS for my daughter. Seven years ago and PBS can't let it go. Check on your narrators for other shows and guests of Sesame Street....exactly! Without Melanie...Noggin Here We Come!
My kids are heartborken since she's been off the air, how can you explain to a 4 year old and an 18 month old that PBS are just a bunch of jerks without a sense of humor. I would boycot PBS Sprout if it didn't provide me with much needed silence. I miss you Melanie!
I remember viewing this video a long time ago and thought it was very funny. NO reason at all to fire someone over it. It's just a joke.. Live a little.
Plenty of child show hosts have "evening television" careers. Very silly to fire such a promising talent. My three year old loves melanie and her new friend Star. I guess we will subscribe to "Baby Time" with the money we normally donate to PBS.
Have you seen any "adult" sitcoms lately? Do kids have the market cornered on sophomoric humor? Do adults have the "smarts" to dial in whether a child can put 2+2 together? Which child watching PBS Kids Sprout will see the spoof videos (30 secs. each). Did I just say secs? Are 10-11 yr. old boys being physically damaged (or dying) during organized football camps? Are parents being fired? Or are they lionized for organizing the neighborhood kids development . . .
Really...its a joke. And chances are that the parody is so obscure that children & parents alike would never have heard of it except for PBS (The supposed Liberal of the Liberal)finding it and firing an innocent
My three year old nephew has been watching Melanie for a while and she's the face he knows the most on the show. He thinks she's great. I think it's a shame that PBS would fire someone so great for the kids for making a mistake in her past. What does that teach children, that they can never make mistakes. Melanie is great. Bring her back or loose many dear viewers due to you're close mindedness.
I have a 13 month old child that watches this show, and am upset that an actress would be held liable for satire that she did 7 years ago! She should get her job back-especially after the fact that she decided to be HONEST and tell the network about it herself.
apparently the person responsible for firing melanie should be fired, if she was soo concerned about the families viewing the show all of this would have been avoided because a search for record of any previous discrepencies that would have conflicted melanies character would have been done at the time of ms. martinez' employment. poor melanie was honest and lost her job. i believe the person who fired her was wrong because she could have kept the information melanie shared confidential the viewers didnt know until she broadcasted it. what we didnt know didnot hurt us, so why did it hurt her? dont you think it would have been worst if the producers of technical virgin would have made it public. these little kids have been watching melanie for sooooooo long, my 1 yr. old son loves her and i dont think in the mist of watching her if he's asking himself if melanie has ever acted in a short film about anal sex?........of course not because im not even concerned about that. and any parent who would/ or would install it in their children to just out of the blue try to research that is just plain sick-o. give the girl her damn job back!!! as a matter of fact she was too good for you all not to bad mouth kevin and the little star, but if any one should have been fired they should have been the first to go with those corny ass jokes. melanie baby you were a natural and those douchebags dont deserve you find someone who's willing to offer more moolah$$$$$$
