I am a production manager for a small television studio myself, and if I were to find that one my talent had starred in something this funny, I would whole-heartedly applaud them for it. On the reverse side of the coin, I would not want the film widely publicized either, which is exactly what you have accomplished by the firing of this obviously talented comedic actress.
In the name of protecting children you have most likely exposed more kids to this film you claim to be protecting them from through typical American corporate puritanical self-righteousness.
I believe PBS has made a rash decision. My daughter's night time routine has been interrupted. They could have at least replaced her with another human that sings and teaches like Melanie did.
This is really ridiculous - the videos weren't known all that well until recently - which means it wasn't widely distributed. I found out about the video because they fired her. PBS, lighten up.
It is ridiculous that this woman was fired for something she did at the start of an acting career that would only offend the biggest prude. Give Melanie her job back now.
Ms Martinez needs not only to be reinstated, but also to be thanked for excellent work on an excellent site. Her work was timely (and still is), funny, and a perfect rebuke to the Ignorance-Only crowd currently abusing our children with misinformation.
This is more pathetic pandering to the perceived interest of tiny, but high vocal, group of people that have nothing better to do with their lives but whine and complain.
My one year old son loves Melanie... Bring her back, what she does on her own time is her business, as long as shes true to our kids when shes in front of them!
