As a father of a toddler I control what my girl watches. If my daughter has the ability of getting online AND finding the "Tech. Virgin" video then there's a bigger issue at play than the content of the video. Pease bring Ms. Martinez back.
The Good Night Show had become a ritual in our house at bedtime. It saddens me that Melanie will no longer be a part of that ritual. We all have skeletons in our closets. As a mother of an infant, I would hate for someone to judge me now on an unwise decision made 7 years ago.
My 5 year old son loves Melanie -- she is part of his night routine and misses her already! I've viewed the videos, "Technical Virgin" and find nothing offensive about them. PBS should be ashamed of itself. If you continue to cave in to the wingnuts of this world, you will wither and die as you become yet another "faux" voice in the media -- irrelevant, uninteresting and bland. PBS Sprout is some of the best children's progamming on t.v. -- you should be proud of those who make it so, not firing them for making a perfectly legitimate video seven years ago!
I watch PBS all the time and I have even recently been active in contacting my local officals to dish out more funding and even gotten on there asses about cutting PBS funding.
But with stupid moves like this from PBS I don't know how long I could hold my support.
Melanie Martinez was on a show for 2-5yr olds. So firing her for something she did years ago on a parody type website is beyond me. Tell me...How are a bunch of 5yr olds going to Stumble accross 'Technical Virgin'? Espeically when its been down for some time now.
If you ask me PBS is kissing some of the asses of the overly involved mommies with a bug up there ass.
I firmly believe Melanie Martinez deserves her job back!!!
We have freedom of speech. When a comedian has to worry if what they say may cause them to be reprimanded years later it puts a shadow over our country. Ps which exec was looking up hte terms "anal sex and virgins" on the internet to discover this info?????
i can't believe you fired my sons favorite person on television!! why would you be so narrow minded and fire someone for something that your target audience will never see??? your decision really baffles me... thanks for ruining both mine and my childs nights!
this is ridiculous. my three year old has no clue what technicalvirgin.com is, he does, however, know who melanie is. he wants to know where she is now. thanks for making her a missing person.
I don't think they can find anyone as great as Melanie, my son is 2 and lights up when she sings and dances! Well their at it, take off Thomas for having George Carlin and Alec Bladwin!
The pre-schoolers were "protecting" will never see what she did in her past if the parents are good parents. Melanie did nothing wrong, she is good at her job
I think that PBS is being very stupid about this. It really is none of their business what she done in her past. It was very wrong of them to fire her.
My daughter really loves Melanie and we hope that she is able to return to The Good Night Show. The joy that she has brought to our daughter has NOTHING to do with what Melanie did SEVEN YEARS AGO!
