My 5 and 2 year old children love watching Melanie and want her back. Bring back Melanie, she didn't do anything wrong to PBS or Sprout or the children watching.
Is PBS serious? They just destroyed one of their most successful programs. That's just bad business. Not to mention that Melanie should get her money's worth from PBS with a good lawyer, because not only were their actions irrational and hypocritical, but baseless. She shouldn't be punished for a job in the past. It doesn't effect her performance now. She is one of the favorites for my daughter on Sprout. I don't see how PBS thinks that 2-5 year olds would make the connection. I think they were just too afraid of overly conservative parents beating them to the punch and creating more problems. (To those parents, see how your irrational behavior ends up depriving your children, not protecting them?)Doesn't make it right. Melanie should get her job back ASAP!!
I support this petition because if you guys dont bring her back, we will do everything in our power to cut off your donations during those horrible telethons.
because my husband and I are our daughters ROLE MODELS, not someone on PBS sprout. I don't think the videos are that bad, besides, my 3 year old isn't surfing the net and even if she did she wouldn't understand it.
we love you Melanie GOD bless you. NO MORE PBS OR SPROUT IN MY HOUSE,which is too bad my 3 yr old love sprout and loves and misses Melanie, she deserves better anyway!!!! AND TO SANDY WAX YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOE, Seaseme street has fictonal monsters,YOU Sandy wax are the real thing!!!!!
My daughter loves Melanie. Melanie's name was one of the first she ever said! Regardless of "other" ventures Melanie may have embarked on during her career, she is a wonderful hostess that my family enjoyed watching together. Bring her back. The show is not the same without her!
I remember seeing this when I worked back at SciFi.com alongside the gentleman who ran the site and came up with the concept (great guy, btw). To PBS I say: Grow a frickin' backbone and develop a sense of humour because, this was done 7 years ago with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
The spineless,self-aggrandizi ng scum at PBS should be ashamed of themselves. I'd like to know what skeletons they have in their closets. I would assume they are of a much more abborhent bent than the thin parody of which Ms. Martinez
"skeleton" is comprised.
I couldn't care less what Melanie did seven years ago and neither does my daughter. She loves Melanie and lights up everytime she sees her. I would like to know how PBS thinks these children are ever going to find out about this video. It is irresponsible of the executive to remove such a wonderful charcter from our childrens lives and keep the likes of George Carlin on PBS. Our family misses Melanie and we want her back.
How is it that PBS can have George Carlin, A man who is KNOWN for loving the words that children should not hear, be the NARRATOR for Thomas??? Melanie gets fired for her video?Maybe they should Fire george Carlin…his mouth alone would ruin the credibility or PBS.
I don't care what she did 7 years ago, My Baby loves her in this program and looks forward to seeing her every night before bed time.
P.S.WE WANT HER BACK
Melanie is my daughters favorite character and I really dont care what she did seven years ago. By the time my daughter is old enough to understand that the video will be long gone.
A disgraceful, cowardly decision by PBS. Two satirical videos made years ago forever taint this actress from hosting children's programming? Kids can find MUCH worse content on Comcast by simply flipping the channel during the same timeslot that The Good Night Show airs, and can do so MUCH easier than they could find the videos made by Ms. Martinez. And I could explain those videos to my child much easier than PBS's decision!
