I am the mother of a 10 month son named Ralph who absolutely loves Melanie on The Good Night Show. One of the very first times my son acknowledged anything on the television was when he saw Melanie and to this day he smiles and laughs every time he sees her. Since you had Star join Melanie my son is less interested in your show.
I have watched the videos that this young woman did some seven years ago, and I have to say that it is absurd to think anything so obviously a college joke that was made for adult eyes could influence her work on The Good Night Show. Any child that could come across the video clips in question is not being parented properly! Isn’t it hypocrisy that George Carlin can do the voice for Thomas the Tank Engine and two 30 second clips gets this young woman fired?

My grandson misses Melanie, he has his bottle before bed while we watch the goodnight show. He is never going to see this, this is an undeserved punishmet for her and fans. Do whats right and bring her back!
I am a father of a 3yr old and an 8yr old and they love Melanie. And even if either one saw the Techvirg. video, they would have no clue what it was. RELAX PEOPLE.

Melanie is very talented and really connects with kids. My kids loved her. They could care less that she was in a sex satire. They miss her, and want to know when she's coming back.

It was incredibly stupid of PBS Kids Sprout to fire Melanie for something my child will never see and/or care about. My two-year-old daughter benefited greatly from the activities on The Good Night Show. We trusted and welcomed Melanie as a nightly reward/ritual for our little one. Heaven forbid my daughter finds out what I did seven years ago…… JUST STUPID!
I think that it is reprehensible of PBS Sprout to fire Melanie Martinez. Those videos were obviously a joke. How many people have done strange, questionable things in there younger years. Should we all be condemned? Yes, she is a public figure but 7 years is 7 years. As for "hiding" her work from PBS upon interview. TPTB at PBS should have looked into her past work if they were concerned that anything might come up. My daughter is an avid fan of Melanie and will greatly miss her time with Melanie. My daughter will never see those spoofs nor would she understand or care, either. If a church can let Pamela Anderson teach Sunday School why can't Melanie make a stupid video and not have her career marked by it? Where is the justice in that.
Melanie should not be punished for actions done before being hired on PBS. My daughter misses Melanie (she could care less what program is up next; Melanie is who she loved to watch).
While I understand your need to take action on something you deem risky I do not understand the connection to these videos and a 2 to 5 year old. It is just ridiculous to even consider that this would have any impact on your viewers. I would hazard a guess that none of your viewers are surfing the net. And, if they are, they should have their parent watching over them monitoring their content. Please bring Melanie back as she has become a part of our daily routine. We miss her dearly.
My husband and I both support this petition and feel that she should be brought back. She did nothing wrong, all she did was act. Shes and actress they act. and besides, it was 7 YEARS ago, they need to get over it and bring her back. My 3 boys loved watching her on TV!

Get over it...the audience watching the Good Night Show likely has no idea about her other videos, and even if they did, it should not impact her ability to make a living.
My daughter's face lit up so bright everytime she heard Melanie's voice come on at 6pm every night. She would be in the middle of playing with one of her toys and as soon as she heard Melanie's voice she stopped what she was doing and ran over to the TV and she is only 16 months old. She also loved hearing Melanie sing the good night song at 9pm and she knew as soon as she was done singing it was time to go to bed. She doesn't seem to be as interested in the show anymore now that Melanie is gone. It was a grave mistake for PBS to let her go. I think you will find that you will not have as many followers now that she is gone. BRING BACK MELANIE!!!
Has PBS lost its mind? Why not fire every host who has ever had premarital sex? Or used birth control? Or spoken a four-letter word? Maybe PBS should fire every producer who is gay, or black or has smoked pot.
I hope Sprout realizes how rediculous their actions were in terminating Melanie Martinez from Sprout.
If Melanie does not return to Sprout (and if I were her, I wouldn't want to), I hope that we see her on Disney Channel or Nick Jr. She has a special talent of connecting to children through the screen, and it would be a shame to let that go.
because my grandson loves Melanie. She is so enthusiastic and so loving, and I feel young children have been done a great disservice by not being able to learn from her.
We must realize the step by step erosion of our rights by these kind of firings. We gladly, loudly stand up and speak out in support to rehire Melanie Martinez!
