I, (Steve) have watched the show religiously with my 10 month old son and 8 year old son for a while now. My wife and I firmly believe that Melanie should be re-instated to her position, and a public (ADULT) apology made to her by PBS. She was decent enough to come to PBS about it and they should be adult enough to handle it better than releasing her from thge show. I am deeply concerned about PBS making the choice they made. My 10 year old doesn't turn his head to anything on TV, however when Melanie sings her Goodnite song, he lights up and trys his best to dance along. PLEASE BRING HER BACK NOW!
By the time my son is old enough to find out what Melanie did, which she believed in, he will no longer be watching The Good Night Show. Let him enjoy a drug, violence show before he's really influenced by others. Don't we raise our children to support what they believe in, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone?
It is unbelievable that this performer was fired for something she did 7 years ago! This is absolutley ridiculous! The children have NO CLUE that she was involved with these videos!! Hey, why don't we fire the "offended" PARENTS for doing dirty things in their bedrooms while the kids are asleep in the SAME HOUSE... WOW!! Yucky... eewwww! Sex is BAD, BAD, BAD! Oh, and so is laughter... no laughing or poking fun at sex aloud here in the USA!
my 19 month old daughter is heartbroken that Melanie is gone. She cries everytime Melanie is supposed to come on & all she gets is a Chuck E Cheese commercial! Thanks PBS for breaking my little girl's heart!!
People need to get a life and realize the things that are truly hurting and negatively influencing our children in this country...and I can assure you it is not Melanie Martinez!
Has no one on the firing panel at PBS Kids ever do anything in the past? My son loves Melanie and would have no idea about these videos on his own. Alec Baldwin, George Carlin and Ringo Starr were the conductors on Thomas the Tank engine. Are you telling me none of them did anything questionable? come on now, be serious!
enough is enough. do the producers for this show always use child-friendly language? even in their private lives, or side projects? what about the cameramen, propspeople, etc.? get off your moral high horse and BRING MELANIE BACK. --my 19 month old boy, my wife, myself, and millions of others agree that she is perfect for the show. without her as host, we will no longer watch the GOOD NIGHT SHOW; and might boycott PBS altogether if the network continues to perpetuate this kind of faux moral ridiculousness.
It's incredible that PBS would fire this woman for such a thing, when people such as George Carlin and others, whose material is considered "adult" still work on PBS shows!
because it was a parody done years ago for a specific audience. It has no bearing on her current work whatsoever. Shame on whomever was responsible for making this outlandish decision to fire her!
I have spent the last two nights trying to calm down and explain to my 5 yo twin daughters about Melanie being gone. This was a completely ridiculous decision that hurts the people least likely to be effected by a 7 year old spoof video.
Last night my three year old son Alec sat with me on the couch watching The Good Night show for the first time since Melanie was fired and said during each break between segments, "Where's Melanie, Mommy?". Since I didn't have the heart to tell him her "bosses" at PBS fired her for no good reason, I told him she was on vacation. Please, bring her back for Alec and the thousands of other kids who are asking their parents, "Where's Melanie".
