My grandson and I watch sprout every evening and will miss Melanie. I viewed the video's and I don't feel that they are that offensive. We all have regrets from our college years.
I support this petition simply because firing her was stupid and very sexist. I am very sure that each and every person that work for this network has said or done something in their past that is inappropiate....and you probably still do!!!! YOU ARE NOT PERFECT AND NEITHER WAS SHE..... 7 YEARS AGO!!!! Come on people get real.
I have a 3 year old who loves the goodnight show and thanks to your stupid decision in letting Melanie go and letting filthy mouthed people like George Carlin narrate your shows we will no longer be watching pbs sprout!!!!!! SHAME SHAME ON PBS!!!
HELLO! I have four toddlers, all of them love Melanie. You know the funny thing is I never heard of technical virgin before, and when you search the web for it, the only thing that comes up is a tee-shirt and websites about PBS firing a young mother that made a video that was so underground, even the network didn't know about it! You really need to get real! A Christian network forgives don't they? Well, I dont think we have forgotten that Barney sued thousands of people for a costume, and tinky winky? come on and yet, Barney was not repremanded for his suit, why? Probably because the suit made every company that had legally purchased a barney costume return it because PBS wasn't making the money...if we sent them a profit, I am sure it would have been a different story. As long as melanie if Fired, my children will not watch PBS or it's affiliates and we will not support the networks any longer. PERIOD!
i have a child that loves melanie and calls her the lady and doesn't watch because she is missing. please bring her back soon; i started to watch more my self. please have heart.
Are you kidding? My two year old doesn't care about virginity and what kind of people does PBS think we are that we would care about Melanie's past! If I did porn before my children were born, would that make me unfit for family video?
What she did happened severn years ago. If the credit bureaus can forgive my carelessness after seven years, I think PBS should do the same. After ll, it is government-funded and government should be setting the example for toleration and forgiveness...
I know enough, to be able to seperate actors from the characters they portray, that being said, I am certain my child would never encounter these videos, as I choose to supervise what my child comes in contact with.
I support Melanie and feel that the producers of her show did an injustice to her and other actors. She is an actress and she performed a job. Were will this end. This is McCarthism. Once again we have to bow down to the extreme right. She is doing a good job on her show and kids like her. If she was doing something wrong then they would have a right to fire her. They shouldn't fire her because she did a comedy piece prior to her current contract they didn't like. Remember PBS is controlled by a Republican croney and this is just another reminder of how our rights are being trampled. Bring her back and apologize to both her and our nation.

IF PBS has done a thorough background check this wouldn't be happening. But I don't see what she did as being immoral or wrong anyhow! My child LOVES Melanie. She watches her every night like clockwork. When they changed out Steve from Blue's Clue and put in Joe, she flipped out. We finally found a show she loves with a host she adores and now this?? Its not like she did porno! Sheeesh! What next? Anyone check out the background on the guy that does the birthday card show? What's HE hiding? :eyeroll:

What she did in her past has nothing to do with how she is on Sprout. So she made a video who the hell cares, as long as its not played on the air where my kid can see it. Melanie is a great person and a great host, she appeals to both my kids 20 months and 9 months. Its ridiculous that people get fired for stuff like this. Stop judging her for what she did and start appreciating her for what she has done and accomplished for this show. I don't know if it has anything to do with her not being on anymore but it takes a good hour more to get my kid to sleep. Bring back Melanie. Everyone is upset about this obviously. Look at Thomas the train they have the filthiest man anrrate the show (George Carlin) being I know who he is I just wait for a "f" bomb, but you know what it never comes, why its because he knows its a kid show and he puts that aside and does what he is asked. You gotta bring Melanie back you can't fire her for this, apologize for jumping the gun, you should have maybe suspended her and asked people what they thought and then you would have realized that it doesn't bother people what she has done in her past, or even her present or future as long as she does her job, which for as long as I've been watching she has, than you have no right getting rid of her. Sprout isn't the same without her. Please bring her back.
As a parent, I have never allowed my young children to view the "Technical Virgin" videos. And even if they ever did then I fail to believe that (1) they would understand the video or what Melanie Martinez is talking about and (2) that they would associate her as being the host of the Good Night Show. I understand and appreciate your desire to protect our children, but to be quite frank you have completely over-reacted this time. Those videos are 7 years old and should have absolutely zero influence on judgements regarding Melanie Martinez's character, integrity, or ability to host a children's show.
