Do the right thing and bring Melanie back, she is wonderful for children. She has actually helped my developmentally disabled son immensely. She has been truly missed by him and many, many others.
This is ridiculous! My daughter loved to watch Melanie and would have never known about any kind of "indiscretion" if it weren't for PBS making a huge deal! Besides, she's 2 years old and doesn't care! Neither do I. We want Melanie back!!!
My daughter Becca enjoyed Melanie very much and she has no idea about what she did before the good night show. As an adult... I think that an actress is an actress. She did nothing wrong except work to make a living!
My son enjoyed watching Melanie everyday. Now he can no longer see her on the Good Night Show for something he doesn't know anything about.
Children that are old enough to watch Melanie do not surf the internet and would never have seen work she has done in the past.
Melanie is an actress, why should she be penalized for acting, she didn't do anything wrong.
because I am aghast that George Carlin is considered suitable to keep in children's programming while Melanie Martinez has been fired. This is ridiculous. Let Carlin go and do his ADULT shows and retain Martinez for the work she has done so well with children!
My toddler son and daughter enjoy the show, and quite frankly I find her a bit insipid. The videos raised my respect for her considerably. It's just plain stupid to fire someone for exercising free speech in a context that has absolutely nothing to do with the Sprouts show. I thought PBS stood for American values....
If I hadn't read about this on the PBS website it would not have been news. Plus my two year old does not understand and would not have found this on the internet by herself. Bring Melanie Back!
My granddaughter and I enjoyed Melanies soothing voice at the end of the night. It helped my granddaughter relax and fall asleep faster. We have both wondered what happened to Melanie. I support this petition.
its obviouse these sketchs are a bit of fun , you only have to see programs like brass eye and jam to see how far it can go befor it becomes sick this is just funny and light harted , also its raised such a profile on the internet that surly the corp can see they fked up and the international comunity found it funny
I have twin toddlers and I feel the impact of these short films would have been less negitve for PBS, Comcast, Sesame, and HIT then removing The Good Night Show from the line up.
My 2-year-old twins love Melanie and have no access to 5 year old satirical videos on a diabled website. Get real Ms Waxman. Have you done nothing in YOUR past?????
My 4 year old daughter and I no longer watch Sprout. We watch Noggin and we now use our DVR to record her shows so we can watch them at night when Noggin is off the air
Plain and simple -- Melanie Martinez was fired in retaliation for performing social satire critical of the abstinence-only policies of the current administration. I am ashamed that PBS could stoop this low.
Melanie was a great host and had a very gentle personality which is really good for kids. PBS made a mistke. Nobody cares about 7 years ago. Anyway I have since seen the 'videos' and you can hardly recognize her.
my children along with everyone else miss Melanie. It's upsetting to believe that PBS fired one of the 1st people to ever get my daughter's attention or the 1st person to teach my son sign language. Shame shame shame on PBS for discriminating!!
My kids loved Melanie on the Good Night Show. Why should we care what she did for a lark back in her college days? Shesssh. Has the whole world lost its sense of humor? Are we all going to cave into the fear that so-called Christian nazis are going to not like her? Who cares! None of them watch Sprout anyway! Get a life, PBS. Melanie was good at her job on Sprout and you fired her why? Not because of her performance on the job at all. Great lesson for the kids. Grow up.
This is completely inane. My daughter has cried because Melanie is gone. Who cares what she did 7 years ago, she's not doing it now, and oh, by the way, my child does not surf the net looking for questionable content!
My 5-year-old misses Melanie ever since she stopped appearing on the Good Night Show ... and she's very unlikely to look up the name "Melanie Martinez" on YouTube any time soon.
If the lady from Sesame Street can appear on "The Sopranos" using foul language and performing a love scene, certainly this old video of Melanie should not matter. My son misses her on "The Good Night Show" and will not see that old video of her.
