I think it's horrible to fire someone for the wrong reasons. This is definitely the wrong reason for anyone to be fired. I think it should be investigated on why she was really fired. It looks to me to be crooked.

Sprout has made a terrible decision in removing Melanie Martinez from The Good Night Show. The videos are clearly satirical in nature and should have no bearing on her appearance on the show. If, infact, she did disclose the videos on her employment application I would expect to see legal action against Sprout, PBS Comcast and HIT in the near future.

Melanie is a good role model for children and she is very good at her job on the Good Night Show. Not many people can do what she does. I don't think those commercials she did are even that big a deal. I feel she deserves a second chance.

thank the moron who brought up the technical virgin, for i never heard of the darn thing before the goodnight show was aired. i agree the kids would not see melanie as the woman joking about oral sex in the technical virgin, it would be the adults for they were the morons who dug up the technical virgin to begin with. it was pbs's fault for not checking into this woman's past, so firing her was injust. she wasn't nude in the movie, and to set the record straight about the guy who mentioned ringo starr, he was fired as a spokesman for a wine cooler ad after his battle with drinking was made public.

My kids love Meanie and miss her. PLEASE BRING HER BACK! Try and find an actress who hasn't been involved in something sexual. What a ridiculous excuse for firing her. I think she was a great host and my kids looked forward to seeing her every night, even in the same clothes and in pre-recorded spots. Even still, when I brought the wikipedia entry up on my screen to find out what happened to Melanie, my daughter yelled out, very excited when she saw her picture, "MELANIE!"

This was hypocritical to say the least. Sesame Street has had various Actors that have gone on to play "roles" that would be considered unsavory for children. Natalie Portman was one such person, and she went on to play a stripper in the movie "Closer." Would Sesame Street say no to her as a guest appearance now? The answer is probably not.

I find the rationale for the firing utterly silly. She is an actress, the persona we see on PBS or in this film is not the real her. Sesame Street teaches between things that are "real" and things that are "imaginary". Maybe PBS should take a lesson, too.

Melanie was wonderful for our 3 year old and we looked forward to her as our 10 week old twins grow. Our 3 year old faithfully watched Melanie and still today asks to watch the Good Night Show. Just 2 nights ago he was singing one of Melanie's songs. As a parent, I protect my kids from anything with adult content. They will never see what she did 7 years ago as I'm a better parent than that. We won't watch the Good Night show you currently are running now, it's not any different than the day programs on Sprout. The dancing, singing, crafts, etc. that Melanie brought to the show were educational and much better than "Mr. Mailman" making deliveries around the States. You've got to bring Melanie back so kids all over will be happy again. Everyone has a past and can't erase parts of our lives that we wish we could. She's out to touch hearts of little ones, not to hurt them.

Melanie was a great host. I would love to know the sexual history of those who decided to fire her. I would imagine it is not as clean as the hypocrisy they portray by firing her. Its not like she was in a porno movie. Thousands of kids loved Melanie and are now heartbroken. I didn't know Maria (Sesame Street) was in playboy 20 years ago either, and it didn't emotionally scar me to watch her. Give Melanie a break and bring her back, WITHOUT STAR!!!

This was absolutely ridiculous. In a land and medium where free speech should be praised and celebrated, things like this shouldn't happen. Perhaps an investigation into why watermelons appear next to Dinah Doll's market stand for no apparent reason would be time better spent by the concerned folks at Sprout.

I am dismayed that an actor's prior experience solely as an actor should play a role in this person's firing. Counter examples include relatively famous politicians on Sesame Street how are almost certainly corrupt at some level. The corruption of those people is real where Melanie's is arguably not. Please reconsider your decision!

As a father of three, including one who loved Melanie on Sprout, I find PBS's actions to be knee-jerk and overly PC. As others have said, firing Melanie over what was essentially another acting job, especially one from so long ago, is extremely disappointing. I guarantee you it will factor in to how much my wife and I contribute to PBS this year--or whether we do at all. Hit 'em in the wallet, people. Then they'll listen.

Melanie exemplified the values and actions we try to instil in our children every day. Mealanie displayed warmth, kindness and comfort. Daily Melanie showed an enthusiasm for life and exhibited a genuine spirit that was not lost in a commercial world filled with over indulgence. My 2 1/3 yr old daughter responded to the simplicity and the comforting words of Melanie. She sang the songs, participated in games, and learned the sign language all awhile grabbing a pillow to curl up to and fall asleep. My one year old son stopped everything and just grinned at Melanie when he heard her sweet voice. In todays world we would be hard pressed to find close perfection in anyone. If PBS/Sprout doesn;t bring her back maybe another network will.

My daughter would dance around the living room following Melanies leads each evening. In fact that was one of her most sought after nightly routines was to dance with Melanie. What you have done is shamefull and to really make a stand, you should reverse your decision and bring melanie back. Our children deserve it.
