I think this is horrible that melanie has to be haunted by somehting done so long ago.. what are you teaching children.. that people don't make mistakes. My son has communication problems and melanie brought a smile to his face and he actually would immitate her.. she brought out the best in him
my twin girls love melanie she has a great personality for the show and who cares what happend 7 years ago... the people that own pbs sprout arent perfect. we will not watch pbs sprouts anymore! i have the old pbs sprouts when she was on there taped and i will play it for my twin girls!! the new guy is awful!! yuck
Children in the age group the goodnight show targeted would never have known of the past skit she was involved in unless their parents were to tell them. What responsible parent would do this. I don't think anyone would do this nor do most parents care. I, for one, do not. Melanie is a far better host than the male replacement. Melanie was well liked by my child. Her replacement is not very personable and makes me now want to watch the good night show at all.Infact, we haven't.
The new host is so...gay!!! He's old, creepy looking, and did I mention gay? Who cares what videos melanie did, we need her back! My daughter loved her!!!
My toddler and I really miss Melanie! The videos she starred in several years ago are not so inappropriate to warrant her dismissal from PBS Sprout. It sends the wrong message to young girls; that they will be unjustly punished, even if their behavior is only slightly unguarded. Isn't this the 21st century?
I'm a father of two children who watch your show, and I've very sad to see that pbs would do this to someone who has been a postive figure in my kids lives. Please bring her back. She did nothing wrong. This is a documentary film.

This is ridiculous. So what if she starred in another video. My kid loved her. Now I have to put up with questions from a 3 year old about where Melanie is. Thanks PBS.
It's insane, actors do lots of unusual and curious things before they get their start and this is no different. It would be on thing if she was doing it while she was with pbs but this really is insane.
Melanie is the best host of any children's show..She had poise, manners, and is very real. Bring her back - if she'll come. No one should be fired over something that happened 7 years ago, before she was even hired as the host. This new host, Leo, looks as if he has been in quite a few "videos" himself - you better check him out, too - and while you are at it, go ahead and check everyone who has anything to do with PBS Kids Sprout - I am sure their records aren't so clean. One thing I might add is that Alec Baldwin is the regular Narrarator of "Thomas the Tank Engine", not George Carlin...and his past is not at all what we would call "appropriate".
I think PBS was unfair to fire Melanie for something she did 7 years ago. Children all over the world loved her. My children looked forward to seeing her every night. Bring her back !!!
My daughter and I adore Melanie, she was the first person on tv that acutally got my daughter to interact. She would try to bounce on one foot and tap her head, everytime Melanie would come on she would cheer. Now she doesn't even pay attention to the goodnight show so I don't turn that channel on at all and I have asked all the parents I know to do the same. There is no way that something she did 7 years ago effects my daughter now when she watches Melanie on sprout.
I was a theatre major in college and was cast in a show called Company. My character had to take off her clothes and get into bed with her boyfriend. I don't think of myself as an immoral person, and I don't think my 5yr. old son does either. I can tell you however that he is VERY upset that Melanie all of a sudden "disappeared". Quite honestly I am more disturbed by the creepy pedophile looking man who is now hosting. Children love Melanie because she looks child-like. Bring her back please!

I support this petition because my child enjoyed watching Melanie. Those silly spoof segments will not be seen by my child - not to mention, she wouldn't understand the content, any way.

My son loved Melanie and we would really love to see her back on the air with her dignity returned. It was a rash and immature decision, a disgusting display of censorship and immaturity.
Melanie as strange as she was definitely impacted my 4 year old while watching TV. She would be more in tune to do things other than TV, as in crafts, exercise, and singing. The new host is very feminine but not what our kids should look up to. Bring her back. Everyone in show business has checkered past and they do what they can to make a breakthrough. She was doing just that trying to earn a living. BRING HER BACK!
My two year old son LOVED Melanie. She was consistant. The decision to always have her in the same outfit~brilliant! The decision to let her go...RIDICULOUS!
I haven't seen the short, but I'm sure when my son is 20 and (maybe~probably not) see's it, he'll fall in love all over again. GET REAL! YOU'LL NEVER FIND SOMEONE AS PERFECT AS HER FOR THE JOB!
Melanie was wonderful on the Goodnight Show and kept my one year interested. It is just a shame that they let her go. I agree that most people never would have known had someone not plastered it all over. BRING MELANIE BACK!
I contribute annually to PBS and do not support the decision to fire Melanie. This sets a dangerous precident in a world that has moved past such shallow judgement of others.
This is utter ludicrasy. Had PBS not made public mention of the videos in the firing of melanie, 90% of the population would never have even known that they existed. Children in this age range can not grasp the concept of, let alone find the video itself.
My 3 yr.old daughter cries every night now because melanie is gone, so we have stopped watching Sprout.Would she have even seen the video that Melanie made 7 yrs. ago? NO!
She is perfect for the show. The kids love her natural smiles and soft spoken voice. Kevin and Melanie are the icons of PBS Sprout. The videos were no reason to fire her. PBS, you made a mistake. Let's bring her back !!!
My 3 year old loved Melanie. He has a speech problem and because of her, he learned to sing the goodnight song and to do the stretches. He misses her so much and is now scared to watch shows at night on PBS Sprout. She was a big comfort to him and other kids. Please bring her back.
My son and I watched the good night show all the time. Everyone in our family knew he was in love with her. Then she was inexplicably gone. I had no complaints until I turned on Sprout and she wasn't there! Shame PBS, shame.
My daughter and i support the efforts to bring Melanie back. I have explained to her the circumstances and she feels even though she should probably choose better. She still did a good job at PBS. Also why allow Dr Ruth???? And then again, why not.... So give Melanie her job back....Or maybe she could sigh up for "Days of our lives"...
I support this petition. Melanie had a wonderful way of getting my daughter's attention and getting her involved in the exercises (Head & Shoulders was her favorite). I felt safe with my daughter watching her show, knowing she was getting good educational attention. The goodnight show just isn;t the same without her. It's not as good or entertaining and the person filling in now is not doing very well. He makes me just want to change the channel or turn of the tv completely. If melanie was fired because she did 2 thirty second videos that dont pertain to the good night show, dont show them on the good night show. What was said in those spoofs has nothing to do with the show or in anyway relate to what she does on the show. I am very irritated with pbs about this. If they held all there employees the the same standard they did Melanie, they would all be fired for something they said at one time or another even though it had nothing to do with their current job. Melanie didn't do anything wrong! Bring Melanie back!!!!!!!!!!
