I support this petition because my daughter liked watching Melanie on the good night show. She is 2 years old, and is beginning to learn to say different words, and one of the ones I enjoyed hearing her say was Melanie once she came on.
this is rediculous. PBS airs thomas the train with george carlin narrating... isn't he an outspoken, use every bad word in the book comedian that talks about everything that is vulgar and bad? PBS hire her back!
PBS, You made a big mistake. I would like to know what you all did 7 years ago you that would proabaly get you fired also. Scrape the whole show at this point. Leo appears gayer than a 3 dollar bill.
Well, not only do we miss the original hostess, but the new guy is weird in a creepy way. Sorry to say, we don't like him at all. (very forced and over the top in is expressions) The day time host is good, the young woman was good... in all of the land of children's entertainment is there not a "normal" friendly outgoing host available to host the good night show we watch religiously? Instead of enjoying it with our children we just think how weird this guy is. :O He may be a nice person, but he is not getting a good review from this family. While we are at it.. we don't like oobi or most of the voices on sesame street.. ha ha ha! lol. We do love PBS and sprout though. Keep up the great programming for children and adults.
My son is in love with Melanie. After the first show he started calling Malanie his"girlfriend". Once school started for him in Aug, we couldn't watch it much but my son got sick so he had to spend several weeks out of school. Where is Mel he would say. He dosen't watch Sprout much anymore and I just told him she's been busy with other projects. I'm glad we asked for a signed picture of her when she first came on the show. So now he can remember her that way.
To the hypocrites at PBS: Melanie Martinez is a 34 year old woman who, I am sure, you did not find in a convent! Mrs. Martinez is better off without PBS.
God forbid Mrs. Martinez happens to be a human being with opinions and a sense of humor – the PBS audience’s blinders might fall off!!
If the Good Night Show’s target audience can surf the Net and search for sex-related material, then we all have a bigger problem on our hands than your silly little TV shows.
What a calamity. i cannot believe someone would fire you for a JOKE you did in college to ammuse your friends. Like they actually think that 5 years olds are gonna get on a comp and type technical virgin. and then the best part about this is then you bring in Leo.I find it hard to believe there are no video reated skeletons in his "closet". I cannot believe you cowardly fucks fire melanie but hire a GAY mexican guy. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!!! FUCK YOU SANDY WAX!!!!
My 3 year-old son loved seeing Melonie every night. She was sweet innocent and definately age appropriate. Different theatres call for different actions. George Carlin the "poop" (censored) comedian does the reading for Thomas the tank engine. Think about it. There has been no suitable transition and my son has stopped watching the channel. Bring melonie back!

My 3 year old son loves Sprout and loved Melanie. She was an important part of the Good Night Show. I seriously doubt that my 3 year old will ever see the videos that she recorded 7 years ago. The only way any small child will see those videos on the internet is if he/she is showed them it by somone older and I highly doubt they'll understand it.
Bring back Melanie!!!!
Melanie was a host for a night time show geared toward small children. What small children are on the internet viewing these spoofs? My daughter misses Melanie. She even named a doll after her. Good luck to PBS on their hypocritical hunt to find chaste human robots to fill Melanie's shoes. You'd think of all the stations, PBS would be the most understanding of an actor's past roles. What happened to "Be more enlightened"? If someone who wanted to host kids' shows had a recent career in porn or something, then I could see where PBS would be justified, but this is absurd.
What a tragey...Hello PBS Actors and actresses play roles that is what they do. I saw the Video years ago. I had no problem letting my son watch the goodnight show. Now on the side knowing what Melanie for a living whomever posted the Video again should be ashamed... People should't mess with other people lives....
It was 7 years ago, and the kids would never learn about it. The kids don't care. Think about the kids, not your stupid actions, and her actions from 7 years ago. You let George Carlin voice Thomas and Friends, but you won't let Melanie host the Good Night Show? Bunch of hypocrites at PBS.
My kids miss Melanie, and the termination was loony. Was the idea that the kids would visit technicalvirgin.com and be led astray or be confused? No. The idea was that PBS now must genuflect to the right wing. Very sad to be politicizing this.
My 2 year old son loved Mel and he is at a loss .
This new guy well let's just ask if he is the perfect role model for kid . NO NOBODY is with out flaws .
I'm sure me son will never know if she as a actress ever did anything he LOVES MEL
My letter written to Sprout: I am a parent of a 2 year old child who loves to watch Sprout and the Goodnight Show. I approve of the unquestionable content, as I am a very "hands on parent".I have been wondering where "the girl" from the Goodnight Show has been, so I finally looked for any information I could find on your website. I was surprised, shocked and extremely disappointed to learn of Melanie Martinez' firing! I have no idea what the details of her firing are, but unless she's a porno star, I believe that whatever she did 7 years ago is history. As a "Conservative Christian", even I believe in change. Seven years ago, you all weren't even a channel, I wasn't married, I had no children--lots of things change over 7 years. I appreciate your cautiousness, however, I would much rather my child spend the evening with a sweet, inviting, mild-mannered, cheerful, motherly young woman--Melanie Martinez.
Melanie was like a sweet younger sister that you trusted to sit with your kids for awhile, and in turn they felt safe. I hope that you will reconsider your decision and bring Melanie Martinez back to Sprout's Good Night Show. It feels as if part of the show is missing. And that part is Melanie! She is, and will be missed!
This is a normal thing new actors and actresses do to get a foot in the door. The two SPOOF 30 sec clips will disappear like a fart in the wind. My children loved Melanie! Period!
My son loved Melanie. I am very disappointed that they fired Melanie. She was fun and enthusiastic. I am a sex ed teacher does that mean that I should be fired as a mother because I also think that astinence only eduction is a farce and freely speak my mind about it!
Melanie was an actress when appeared in those politically motivated parodies. Any disagreement with the content of the parodies should be directed towards their writer/producer, not towards the actress. I think this decision is extremely short sighted, and i wonder if all the previous works of every host/guest of Sesame Street have been subject to the same scrutiny? To take this action at the same time that PBS is fighting off censorship legislation is cynical.
My son asks every night, "When is Melanie coming back,I miss her so much." Melanie has a great understanding of how to make our children feel safe and engaged. My son doesn't have that sparkle in his eye while watching the good night show now that she is gone. If Melanie doesn't return to the show I honestly believe my son could do with out sprout completely. I do not like the lesson this is giving our children. That your mistakes in life are unforgiveable and will follow you through the rest of your life. I say leave the mistakes in the past and learn and grow from them. I feel the shows you are now airing are hypacritical and I do not want you PBS teaching my children lessons on life. This dicision will affect you for generations to come. I am sure when our children become adults and find this out they will be as upset as we are. We, as parents, would love to have Melanie back. My wife and I really thought she was and still is, a great role model for our children. It is hard to understand why PBS would fire a woman who related to and comforted our children, to hire a man how is disengaging and frightens them. BRING MELANIE BACK FOR THE CHILDREN AND FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR SHOW!
because I find it absolutely appalling that PBS would condemn Melanie and the millions of adoring children who love her for what was clearly a spoof that occurred well before her time with PBS. This is absolutely unacceptable and stands against EVERYTHING I am trying to teach my son. When he asks why Melanie is no longer on his favorite show I am forced to explain to him that unfortunately there are intolerant, judgemental people in this world. It's a shame to have to learn that at such a young age. We love you and support you Melanie.
My four year old daughter cried for an hour when she find out Melanie would not be on the show any longer. She was so upset she didn't eat dinner. There are a lot of people who have done a lot worse that are in more high-powered positions than a kids show on PBS. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger for example.
My 4 year old son was and still is broken hearted about Melanie being gone. He still asks about her. Neither him or I care what other roles she has been in in the past.
I do not agree with the firing of Melanie. Many people have done things in the past. Why should it affect there future. Since Melanie was taken off the air, my daughter can't stand to watch sprout. I am very dissapointed to see that a tv station would let a persons career be thrown a way for something done seven years ago. I fell Melanie should be given her job back. She was excellent with the kids and they really got into the show with her. My daughter loved Melanie.
I support this petition for the simple fact that it doesn't matter what Melanie has done in the past. Besides how many 2-5yr olds are watching those videos? HHHMMMMM..... my guesse NONE!
Melanie shouldn't be penalized for pervious work. The kids who watch her will never see the segment unless an adult shows it to them and even then, they wouldn't understand it. Bring her back!
because it was unfair for Melanie to have gotten fired for something that happened that long ago. Wax needs to get more thing in her desk so she can have other things to do in her spare time other than messing with what is correct. All i need to say is that we need to step up and have Ms. Martinez back on the show, our kids need to have her back on the show.
Please bring Melanie back! My daughter and son love her! What PBS did is wrong!!!You are talking about two completely different audiences! If PBS is going to start firing based on past jobs, I think they have a lot more work to do! Shame on PBS. We love and miss you, Melanie!
Bring back Melanie! She is awesome! Madonna writes well received children's books and no one seems to mind her past "works of art". Melanie has that special something kids love, my daughter misses her terrible.
because my daughter--Sophie loves Melanie--and I do too. I protect Sophie and do not allow her to view material I find offensive. Melanie as she performs on Sprout does not fit into this category. Bring Melanie back.
