ITV Play - Do not watch this drivel or waste your money on phoning. There is no free capacity on freeview. The ONLY way to get ENTERTAINMENT back is to REJECT drivel like ITV Play.

I am very upset that men & motors has been taken off air from freeview. M&M was the main reason for purchasing my freeview box and is the main reason I switch on the digital box.
How can you remove this channel after building up an audience of dedicated followers?
I can name a dozen other channels on freeview that would deserve to go long before M&M.

I was disgusted to discover that M&M has been taken off freeview,I was really looking forward to the TT and Irish road racing,I have no interest in quiz channels whatsoever so the men in suits at ITV have once again got I think another on digital on their hands,do they never learn!!

Id just like to say, I have signed this petition, i have sent very strong emails to all the ITV email addesses and parliament email address listed on this website with regards to this matter, I have also written to watchdog to try and get them to do an article on the poor quality of freeview channels and the volume of these 'quiz' conman channels. and this is the reply i got from ITV : "Thank you for your email.
From the 19th April, ITV Play will take the slot currently being used by Men and Motors on Freeview. Men and Motors will continue to broadcast a strong schedule on Sky, Telewest and NTL. ITV has limited capacity on the Freeview platform and we have to take decisions based upon the capacity available. In this instance we believe ITV Play represents the best commercial use of this capacity on DTT. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused to our viewers.

I support this petition. The appearance of M&M was one of the main reasons for buying a Freeview box. No advance warning when it got pulled yesterday. Suggest all that support this petition boycott ITV channels and interactive TV including the National Lottery!

ITV have yet again got it very wrong. People don't watch freeview because they're stupid but because they don't have money to waste. I will be deleting the ITV channels as they are all full of repeats.It's the BBC who have led the way in offering great variety on Freeview and will no doubt come to the rescue and offer an alternative to Men and Motors. They're quite good at taking advantage of ITVs mistakes. I support this petition.

M&M was one of the only channels on Freeview that promoted home grown talent in motor sport- showing both behind the scenes to actual coverage such as the Isle of Man TT race, Rallying, et al. This is not withstanding the general programme output which at times outpaced the other mainstream broadcasters. It is quite clear that ITV are now moving away from providing entertainment as a service and are moving towards the cheap option - that is, preying on the poor and the vunerable in the hope they might win a big cash prize. ITV - don't fall into the quiz trap - concentrate on programme output and enhance your reputation. Put M&M back on Freeview.

Have you done any market research? Do you know what TV is for? Have you any idea what constitutes entertainment? M&M is/was my favourite channel on Freeview, bring it back! I can't believe out of all the crap that is on Freeview this one get's the chop. If ITV think I'll be watching ITV Play, they can think again. Hopefully it will prove to be a flop and M & M will come back, after all the companies paying for the commerials in the breaks will want a channel with some decent viewing figures. I won't be watching channel 38 anymore!

We've really enjoyed many of the classics shown on M&M, from Minder to Auf Weidersehen, Pet.
It seems incredible that the replacement is a scarcely concealed way of conning money out of people; like other scams it will no doubt be those who can least afford it who will be snared!
ITV can have NO shame if this is how they behave.
I think that there is no need for a usual call channel. These are cons and most sane people don't enter because we like to be entertained. Bring back some entertainment.

Please bring back Men and Motors, it's the best channel on freeview, and there are already other quiz channels on that have presenters talking rubbish trying to fill the gaps left by the lack of interest shown in these shows !
