During the period of 10-13 February, 2005, in the village of Meghar in Northern Galilee, about 2500 Druz men violently attacked the Christian residents of the village. They attached their houses, burned their businesses and cars, and even attacked the only village church.
We, the undersigned, concerned Palestinian Arabs of Israel, of all faiths, want to express our solidarity against the violence that happened in Meghar. We refuse to accept any excuses for these attacks, no matter what the motives were. We emphasize that what happened is a continuous crime that has been repeated frequently in different places, and at different levels. Our silence only encourages these criminals to spark a dispute in our society.
