Channel One is a T.V. show that is played in thousands of middle schools & high schools across the United States.

Every Thursday the show has an event called "All Request Thursday" where viewers of the show go on the show’s website and vote for the songs they would like to be played.

In the week of February 02, 2007 - February 09, 2007, the category for "All Request Thursday" was “80s Edition“. It was clearly stated on the website that the artists and songs on the list were chosen because they were the "hottest sellers of the decade." On the list of 25+ songs, there wasn’t one Michael Jackson song. Michael Jackson was the Highest Seller of the Decade! Why wouldn't he be on the list?

Because of this, I contacted Channel One Networks on February 08, 2007 and spoke with the Musical Director. When I asked him why Michael Jackson was not on the list, he answered, “I love Michael Jackson. He is the King of all Pop--he’s the best--but I can’t play him.�

I asked him why he couldn’t play him, and he told me that he had received complaints from teachers because he had played him.

“Why would they complain?� I went on to ask.

“Well, he has had a checkered past,� he answered, referring to the 1993 and 2003 child molestation allegations, of which he was completely cleared.

I want to note that the Director of Music with whom I spoke was VERY polite, but I still disagree with the banning of Michael Jackson's music. Not only are you supposed to assume someone is innocent until proven guilty, on June 13, 2005, Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges! The trial began two years ago and he was found innocent; it's time to get over it!

I propose we get signatures from all Michael Jackson fans & supporters to get Michael Jackson played on Channel One. We are not asking for a public apology, we just want his music played! The United States Law says a person cannot assume someone guilty who has not been convicted of a crime, therefore Channel One is violating Michael Jackson's rights in this country.

We want all fans & supporters to bombard Channel One with phone calls and e-mails demanding that Michael Jackson's music is played!
