Mr. Marcum,

It has come to our attention that the Marshall University Athletic Department is looking at buying out the football contract with the University of Tennessee that was signed only a few years ago. We, Marshall University football fans, alumni, and supporters strongly disagree with MU buying this contract out. Some fans enjoyed the trip to Knoxville in 2003 and want to go back, while some others disagree with backing out of your agreements. Please use this chance to reevaluate your decision for wanting to get out of this contract with UT. This could be a very good opportunity for the HERD to continue to become a household name.

We should be building continuing relationships with schools like Tenn, rather than breaking them off.

I am just here to say that even a queer WVU alum like me does'nt think you should back out. Did I mention that I am a queer mountaineer?

If MU Football is to receive the nat'l. recognition that we all seek, then we must continue to compete with major programs as we have with TN, GA, O State, K State, etc. Under no circumstances should we discontinue the TN Contract.

Commitment when convenient leads students to learn commitment when convenient. When commitment is inconvenient then students learn to simply break their commitment. Or more simply put-Monkey see, Monkey do.

The Benifits of playing outweigh 1 possible loss.

If the goal is to become a big-time program, you must play the big-time programs.

We should've beat them last time, let's go shock the world! Why do we have to buy out the contract anyway? I thought they were volunteers.

To continue building a great program means we need the exposure of playing marquee schools.

After buying out LSU, if we buy out this series, SEC opponents in the future will be very wary of scheduling us. Also, playing UT we will get a lot more exposure than if we play a div- II cupcake

We need to honor our commitments. Let's play the game instead of trying to find reasons not to.

Let's play the game. If they want to buy their way out of playing in Huntington - let them. But lets not have this series stop because of us.

We are a bunch of pussies anyway, why don't we just go ahead and get killed in 3 straight games?

We get a big win at Tenn, who is down, which sure beats winning against a I-AAA team at home. Anybody, anywhere, anytime! Plus we signed a deal and they will also live up to it and come here.
