At a time when schools following the Indian syllabus in Bahrain are contemplating a five-day week, The New Horizon School is proposing on implementing a six-day week from the next academic year (2009-2010).

Our children deserve a day all for themselves in which they can do what they desire at a pace they determine. This not only invigorates them for the week ahead, but also enables them to learn from the world around them rather than the books they are subjected to for the rest of the week, including Fridays, wherein they are expected to spend hours completing school assignments at home.

Memories made in the park or by spending time with family and friends are just as important to our children's education. Learning social skills through fun is vital for their development.

We hope the school understands our concerns, and therefore continues with the five-day schedule that was vehemently supported last year (2008) when the six-day week was first proposed.
