Isn`t it time that all local councils were legaly obliged to provide reasonably secure povernight parking for HGV`s with proper toilet and washing facilities. Planning authorities should force developers to provide equivelent new facilities to replace those which are closed before being allowed to commence any redevelopment.

in a time where trucks are becoming an increasingly easy target of crime becuse of a lack of secure parking, all local councils should consider they have a duty to increase such parking within their boroughs so to consider an application for industrial premisses which includes clossing an already established and much used site without any possible replacement would be madness!

Closing down this Truckstop will only case more trucks to park elsewhere, and more trucks tobe hijacked and drivers injured or even killed. What about OUR health and safety
#9

Ally Shaw said 04/07/07, 6:51 pm (verified)
It really amazes me about this country , they preach health and safety ,and the safe welfare of ourselves and others round about us . If they close Alconbury where the hell are we meant to stop , rerfresh and eat . the Goverment should be forced to provide a suitable place before Alconbury is closed , and the place should be safe , secure with all facilities and that also creates jobs for the people of Alconbury.
#8

John Costigan said 04/07/07, 6:23 pm (verified)
Please don't close this much needed facility. We need more secure parking facilities in the UK, closing the Night Owl @ Alconbury would be detrimental to our safety and the safety of our loads, thus making it easier for criminal gangs to prosper.

With out lorries nice new warehouses can't operate. A part of planning permission all new industrial eatates should be compelled to mprovide enough parking for at least 5% of the expexted daily lorry usage.
