Yeah, yeah...it's a clever way to generate buzz without spending much at all on marketing. BUT, the name is horrendous and I'm embarassed to refer ot the system by name.
Let's pray it's all a setup, and we'll find the out true name at E3. Doubt it, but let's see.

I support this petition, and HIGHLY recommend that a different name be used. If Nintendo does keep this name, I will take it as a sign that the company has chosen to continue it's streak of making self-destructive errors, such as the lack of internet support for GameCube and the sale of Rare.

I really don't like that name. Please don't make it that. I don't want to say to my friends do you want to come over and play my brothers wii? I say that it should just be called the revolution.

I support this petition. It finally seemed like
the world was falling at Nintendo's feet in amazement at the little Revolution. Now the world is laughing at the little Wii. Nintendo, you almost made it. Oh well, there's always next, next-gen to screw up. The console still rocks !!!!
Nintendo, I understand wanting to make a simple rememberable name. However I don't see how this is going to be marketable to non-gamers at all.
If your going to call it Wii, you BETTER have some damn good marketing to back that up.

The last few weeks nintendo has been on a role , now it looks like all falls down. Wii dont want that name, its Embarrassing. wii-mote!!?! rev-mote sounds cool. woo-wii. they're chasing even hard core fanboys.
Wii is kinda silly. Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), bland as it is, is still a better name than Wii. Nintendo Gameboy, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Revolution. All of these names are leaps and bounds better than Wii. Change the name and I think wii will all be happier.
Nintendo- sack your market research guys. The first thing that 99% of people in the English speaking world will instantly (unfortunately) think of when hearing the name is urine. Primacy effect, human nature, can't change it so please change the name before it's too late.
