I'd like to know why Nintendo had a great name and changed it to a poor name, upsetting thousands (if not millions) in the process. How does that equal good marketing??
BTW, I had a friend that was slowly losing faith in his Nintendo brand from his childhood, and this will be the first system of their's he doesn't get, but will be getting a PS3. WAY TO GO NINTENDO!! You lost at least one sale with the name change.
I love nintendo because they innovate but come on! that is a shit name, no one will go and buy a product with that name, its embaressing. if the name doesnt change no one will buy it!

because I appreciate the idea of having a global name that is short and easy to remember. But "wii"?? It can't be that hard to come up with something better.. How about "V"?
I still think Wii it´s a bad name but I also think Nintendo have acomplish what they want the public attention not only nintendo fans but the general gamers and I think this was a very smart move By Nintendo. WELL DONE
It's not that I REALLY hate Wii, but Revolution would be better! A short name is actually a really good idea, but ffs choose one with some credibility. At this rate the next console will be called the Nintendo Poo!!!
I am a massive nintendo fan and would have bought a revolution without question, unfortunately I can't see me getting a wii!! please nintendo keep the revolution name or you will be a laughing stock, i find playstation games soulless rubbish for the most part but i will join the ps3 generation if the name is not changed!

because telling my friends that i cant wait to go home and play with my wii just sounds terrible also having the name at revolution is perfect for a marketing campaign such as.."come on jump in, join our revolution" you can not tell me that sounds better as a theme and saying im going to go home and play on my revolution just sounds better than saying that i am going to go home and play with pee yeah real fregging mature
"Wii" is honestly an embarrassment. I mean seriously Nintendo. This is the company that introduced the NES and the first to put the joystick to good use. How can this actually be happening?? Please, please change the name.

Last time I checked, no one hated the name revolution. As a sony fan I was actually distressed that nintendo had picked a way better name.

The name "Wii" is terrible, and will be awkawrd to bring up in conversation. Many people will still continue to call the "Wii" the Revolution as the name "Wii" is awkward. Many fans of the Nintendo are no longer children, saying "Wii" is degrading to the person who owns the system. I am seriously disgusted with this consol name, and I support the petition for us gamers who have to put up with this garbage if we wish to OWN this system in our household.
because nintend needs an image change that isn't seen as childish. Wii sounds like what children say when they go to the toilet and so ninteno needs a much more mature name.
Because Wii es the most ugly name ever put (or that will be put) to game console, and... please... one thing is iPOD, it's sounds cool... Wii sound like WE, WEE and Oui (in french)... there's going to be a lot of consufussion, and... the name sound to for kids...
because Wii is the name that will go down in history as Nintendo's biggest mistake. Any 8 year old, 20 year old, or 60 year old with the slightest self-consciousness will consider themselves far too hip to play with a 'wii'.
Nintendo I will evidently love the REVOLUTION, but to call it Wii is going to push hard core fans like me away, so please stop with the children as the target audience and show some love for us.
Please at least put "Nintendo Wii, codename Revolution" in the machine, so everybody will be happy. Nintendo neXt, Nintendo Now, Nintendo Go are also good.
Because who wants 2 say i want a wii? no 1! this will stop alot of people from buying it its even giving me doubts and i knew i would get it no matter what since it was anounnced. go back 2 the revolution that was a great name and really told people what nintendo were about
because Wii alienates more than just the gamer community. It alientes the majority of the adult and male community.
Sports fans won't identify with Wii. Regular Joe's won't identify with Wii. Teenagers won't identify with Wii. Obviously gamers don't identify with Wii.
I like the idea of using a name that takes yourself completely out of competition with Sony and Microsoft but Wii is not the best moniker.
Take this experiment as a form of research, take the good and the bad and come up with a better name. Wii just sucks and all of the games I was looking forward to playing on the Revolution just don't fit with Wii.
Nintendo Says that it will get diffrent people to buy it. But the fact is that it will only hurt it. Nintendo has to reallize this, The Revolution was such a great name, it told what it was without you having to search all over to figure what it meant. The Wii also doesnt sound good when you say it while the Revolution sounds great. Please bring back Revolution, or at least get rid of Wii.
