Really Nintendo maybe you know what your doing but by all the negitive feedback from your fans please change the name. Youve been on a roll, but I havnt talked to one person who likes this name.
because Come on!!! Wii!!! THE JOKES!!! I've gotta Wii....do you want to play on/with my Wii...now that neat signature will have to read.....B different .....Start A Wii instead of B different...start a Revolution
Nintendo is DONE with making consoles. They couldn't even make a next-gen console so they are repackaging GameCube with a new controller.
Buy an Xbox 360 instead.
i work as a manager in video game retail, and i can tell you from a business point of view, the name change has done nothing but hurt the die hard nintendo fans. Some would even come in the store screaming "Viva La Revolution!" before. Those same people are now jumping the loyalty ship to be with Sony and/or Microsoft.
I support this petiton. What are you thinking Nintendo? You've just embrassed yourself. I can't go down a store and say "Can i have Mario Kart for my Wii" that'll be embrassing. Do you want to beat Sony and Microsofr? Then change the name. You've embrassed yourselves. BIG TIME!
Erm... what the hell are Nintendo thinking? Wii? Why are they naming their new professional console after a specific type of body waste? It's hilarious, obviously, but I was just writing in my Business Studies report that Nintendo were pulling away from their childish image and becoming more professional. Then I casually flicked over to my brother's site and... Wii.
AAAH! The world's gone mad!
Revolution perfectly summed up the new console. "Wii" sounds ridiculous and will do further damage to nintendo's street cred. The new name is going to cost nintendo sales.
I support this petition because it seems clear to me that Nintendo has no idea how to advertise outside of Japan, seeing as how their brand has been spiraling down since the end of the SNES' reign. The Revolution had a chance to bring all of that back, but because of horrible marketing, Nintendo now has the chance to lose it all. I believe the CEO of the big N once said that if the Revolution doesn't do better than the GameCube, it is a failure. Well, Nintendo may have just pulled the proverbial trigger in it's own game of Russian Roulette...
Do the right thing Nintendo. If you really want to please your fans, then all the negative feedback, all the news articles, all the comments in the blogs, on TV... I think it's pretty obvious what needs to be done.
Nintendo can get back in the race they once owned. Not with a Wii tho.
Can't talk playin my wii, can you bring you're wii over. God damn it sounds ridiculous.
Hardcores will forgive and cover the wii logo with a revolution sticker. Mainstream will walk past it laughing.
no matter how much people say it's only bad if you make it bad, the majority of NA will immediatly see it as a bad thing. While it is possible to change the minds of hardcores, you only get one chance with mainstream. Also, if you want the name to mean something, at least spell it how it sounds, I was very confused with pronunciation the first time I saw it. There are too many things wrong with it to list here. Even though I know this petition will never be seen by anyone of importance...just change it Nintendo!
C'mom ! Nintendo Wii, it's feels like the "Wii" is meant to be for babies, it's a childish name, my little brother loved that name, i can't stand changing the name revolution...
How much sake were they fucking drinking???? Even when it is sitting in my entertainment system, I will still refer to it as the Revolution. Miyamoto...Flex your muscle and make them change it. And bring back KID ICARUS!!!!!!
I support this petition because the name has nothing to do with the system. I mean The word "Revolution" said it all. The word or logo Wii is an after thought. The same way Super Nintendo identified with the 16bit era. Or the N64 dealt with the CD's in gaming peroid. REVolution is a perfect name for a system that uses new technology and techniques to attract new viewers.
When i think about playing Red Steel with a motion sensor controller that is truly "Revolutionary" and the game mimicking my every movement...... on my Wii I just want to rip out my eyeballs. :) Please keep revolution Nintendo.
It feels like the fan-base and industry excitment was exponentially increasing with every new detail released by Nintendo. But now by taking a name that sounds perverse and childish, people seem to be waking up and remembering that Nintendo will always pander to young gamers and the Japanese market instead of making the logical choice to serve everyone. Yes... it is only a name.. but it is also an image. An image that makes serious gamers nervous to invest in.
I can't imagine anyone, let alone someone who likes Nintendo like me, buying something called a Wii and feeling comfortable telling their friends about it...
I believe this was not the right decision. It's not so much that I hate Wii, but I simply think Revolution is just cooler. I wish Nintendo would have a little more integrity about their products. Uwe Boll was right in a way. People throw away their marketing for crap, and don't care what becomes of it.
it's almost the worst name i can think about.Sounds like "yes" for us here in France. Just try to have a conversation using "yes" to name something. It's ridiculous.
VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
WII DON'T LIKE THE NAME CHANGE! I'VE HAD 10 FRIENDS TELL ME IT WAS A STUPID NAME WITHIN THE LAST 24 HOURS, AND THAT THEY RATHER WAIT ON A PS3. MORE THAN HALF OF THEM WERE INTERESTED AT FIRST, NOW SOME SEEM TURNED OFF.
The reference to a certain body part is a little hard to get over. You can't say it's name with a straight face. I was impartial at first, but the more I think about mentioning it in conversation the more I don't like it.
