Nintendo... ONCE AGAIN making a mistake and letting fans down. You're trying to shake the "kiddy" image.. and you name the system "Wii"??? I just dont get is. I mean who is making these decisions for Nintendo? Revolution is about 1000000x better for a name. As pathetica as it sounds.. there are going to be a ton of people who dont play thi ssystem just based on this RIDICULOUS name. So let down.
"Wii" is a ridiculous name, come on nintendo you can do better. Hell the "Dolphin" was better than "Wii" (original name for gamecube). I'm disappointed.
I wouldn't mind it so much if "Wii" didn't sound exactly the same as "wee" which just so happens to mean "piss"...
This name is the only reason I can think of for anyone not to get one. But it's a big reason if you're not a big Ninty fan. I mean, how can you keep a straight face saying "I'm going to play on my Wii"??
I don't think the final name should be Revolution, but anything other than Wii would (almost certainly) be much better.

I dont care if nintendos games are for children and stupid, but i dont wanna see in the stores a console named Wii its just ridiculous! Even for me that hate nintendo and hope they fail in everythingthey do.
This is a really bad idea, the Revolution name had a lot of fan support. Wii is possibly the worst name for a console ever. If Nintendo knows what's good for them they will stick with the codename at least for the American version.

It's a good concept but the name will turn casual gamers away from the system.. As a lifetime Nintendo fan I honestly don't know why they did this..... Change the name Nintendo
I would just like to express my HUGE disappointment in Nintendo after hearing of their switch from a "codename" (which, needless to say, we ALL preferred,) and I don't care if you say you like it, I know you are not goring to say with pride: "Want me to bring my Wii over to your house?", " Do you have any of the Wiis in stock?", "I just can't wait for the Wii's new game".
I had previously looked upon recieving new information about the Next-gen console, but now I look at it with shame... Who amoung you will support what was once an innovative new console, but is not this wretch of the remains of a good idea.
I support this petition, but I certainly do not support killing this product all together. This is still a salvageable and still innovatively based console, and as strong as my faith in Nintendo is, such is the strength in my devotion to the "Revolution"!

Wii may sound good when you devise a great big philisophy around it, but you must remember, 99% of people are ignorant, they wont see why it's called Wii, and it's those same 99% of people who judge something on first impressions. You give them the option between Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii, guess which one isn't getting picked up?
Please Nintendo, change the name, Revolution was perfect, let's not make a debacle all over again. Remember Starcube? You atleast had sense to kill that off.

This name dowsn't sounds good. It has doesn't show the great name that Nintendo has in this area. I prefer something that makes people respect the console.
Let the Revolution be GREAT, change this name.
Revolution sounds soo much better, changing the name at the last moment doesn't make sence when you have marketed it for soooo long with that name. Any way i will buy that Great Sytem.
For the love of Mario, Nintendo, PLEASE considering changing the name from "Wii" to something else. Revolution was an excellent name.
You said the meaning behind "Wii" was that it's supposed to bring the family/friends together. In the past, you said NES in Japan, named Famicom, got it's name by combining the words "Family" & "Computer". Maybe you should try going with the Famicom name again or some alternative. "Famicom R"(r for revolution), "Nintendo 5", "N5", "Nintendo RS", etc. Those are all suiting names. Stick to your guns and go with an alternation of one of your old names or at least change it back to Revolution.
