This is not just an internet problem, I am an adult in the UK, and my friends (gamers and non-gamers) will NOT buy this, purely because of the name, which reminds them of toilets.

They do realize that in the UK this is the common word for urine? I've spoken to most of the non-gamer people I know and they all agree it is horrible name. How are you going to expand to a larger market with such a terrible marketing strategy nintendo?

I wouldn't want to see Nintendo go out of business, and I fear that that is what's going to happen if they actually release a console named "Wii."
It doesn't sound like a good noun, for example:
Compare the gamecube vs. the Wii in a conversation:
"I just bought a Gamecube; I love playing my Gamecube; We love playing the Gamecube"
sounds like a good noun right?
now for the Wii:
"I just bought a Wii; I love playing my Wii; We love playing the Wii"
I understand the reasons why they chose it, but in reality it doesn't work out well in the english language.
In English this name is pronounced W2 or WHY.....Good question in my opinion.
