The name "Nintendo Revolution" was absolutely the coolest sounding system name I have ever heard. I was absolutely going to buy it. After hearing the new name I changed my mind.
All I got'a say is what the hell is a famicon? Right? Time to return to the days of American systems having names different than there Japenese counterparts. Wii is fine for Japan, but we want it called the Revolution here in the States.

because Wii is not a name that should be used for a new console, especially for Nintendo. Revolution was such a good name and to replace it with Wii would be an insult to Nintendo gamers. Change it back, please.
because it really is a stupid name! Revolution was far more suited to it. I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan and have owned all their consoles, but may have to think twice now. As much as people say the games make a console, there is also a credibility to a name too - a credibility which "Wii" does not have! Please change it Nintendo!!!!
I have always supported Nintendo and defended the new console, but I think that the Wii name is a poor marketing decision that will turn Americans away from the system.
i strongly believe that if the nintendo system is called "wii" it will not be as successful. Parents are not going to be aware of the new system because they are use to hearing about playstation,xbox 360 and others. when they go to see the nintendo wii they will thinking "what the hell"! Please change the name to what it was going to be(nintendo revolution) if you want to make money, and keep your nintendo fans.
I've always been a Nintendo fan, but what you guys say and do lately are two totally different things. You're trying to bridge the gap to non-gamers and giving your system some wierd ass name that gamers and non-gamers are going to point and laugh at.

this does not affect me in any way other than my opinion. i agree this name is stupid, but it is not up to me, you or whoever signs this/started this petition to name this console. it is solely up to nintendo inc. and all bodies encompassed within nintendo inc. actually, this petition is redundant at best. a voice is a voice, but when there is no legal statute supporting it, it will remain a voice. if you support nintendo, then support nintendo. the name of their console doesn't change what they can or will do for gaming.

Nintendo admitted the initial DS campaign did not go well. Wii will not help advertise a great, innovative system. Revolution tells the viewer that this product is something special. Sure, the word "Revolution" is overused, like women's makeup, but the name is better for marketing and carrying with it a coolness factor.

Wii is just a bad name in the english language. I want the system, but I think this name is going to give their competition a lot of ammo. Revolution was much, MUCH better.

I support this petition. I am a female gamer and when I heard that Nintendo was calling their system wii I almost lost all hope in the system. I know I will go buy it but its hard to make my case for it when I tell my friends that play PS3 or 360 that they should go get Wii. It just wont work
The name Revolution was a step in the right direction. It described the new system perfectly. I understand Nintendos "symbolism" with the name Wii, but from a marketing standpoint, they just killed all momentum the had at attracting the mainstream gamer.
I support this petition. This is in fact the worst desicion that Nintendo has made since the virtual boy! Nintendo is going the wrong way with this name. Not only will the mass market dismiss the system but it will not reach its goal of catching 'new gamers'! I hate the name and so does many other people. Nintendo maybe losing alot of fans this way!

I see nothing wrong with the name myself but too many supposedly hardcore gamers will turn it down becuase of the name. Please keep the name Revolution or atleast name it something sensible.
