The current law for Liberty County Animal Control in Hinesville, Georgia, calls for euthanasia of cats every Tuesday morning, and euthanasia of dogs every Thursday morning. Dogs that come into the facility without a collar, have only 5 days before they are euthanized. I have not seen the facility at full capacity since I have been rescuing out of it, which has been over the past 9 months. It makes no sense to euthanize healthy, young animals when space is available. I would like to at least see the current law changed from euthanizing every week, to euthanizing due to lack of space. If space becomes an issue, the vicious and/or sick animals should be euthanized first, to give healthy, adoptable animals a greater chance to be placed. As it stands right now, I have only FOUR days each week to find homes for the animals on death row at Liberty County Animal Control. Changing the law would give me more time to finder potential adopters, and give more animals a second chance at life.

I'm glad we have the shelter and I would hope it could be used to the full extent available. I have two little dogs and I don't know what I would do if they some how got out,got picked up and didn't have their micro chipp or worse, no one bothered to check. It's not the animals fault whether they are abandoned or just lost. Please give them as much of a chance as we can.

It's not right. They take the animals unrightfully and then kill them, unethically.

The current law should have a provision to allow calm, healthy animals as much time as there is space.

The time is not long enough to allow families to recover a lost pet nor is it long enough for healthy animals to me adopted. As long as there is room, there shold be time.
