Freud and other prominent psychologists believed that religion was a
neurosis - something created to offer people protection and give them hope.
Something to calm the fear they had inside them about life and death.
Personally, i'm not a fan of christianity (although supposedly
im a 'roman catholic' on paper) and other such
religions that go about in the same way because I don't believe
they give people a chance to express their own true beliefs - they tell
them whats right and thats the end of it. This is why I have more of a
PAGAN belief ... although not a pagan in the way that I practice it, I hold
many of its beliefs and believe it is a religion that doesn't
shove a load of crap down you're throat and make you swallow
it. You go about everything on your own terms.
But I don't think religion should be rid of. We kinda need it
to keep people in order ... otherwise there'd be no hope. Less
then there is now anyways thats for sure.. |

Religion is by far the most terryfying of mental illnesses - the contagious
kind. Theists in particular are extremely violent people. Their goal is not
just the domination of the world - it is the murder of all who do not now
before their madness. Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus - they are the
living threat to the future of this planet. Their pre-packaged ideas
absolvet the individual from the hard work of learning. One goal - the
criminilization of parents or the state indoctrinating the young into any
religious organization or theistic paradigm. Atheism rights from birth! Do
this, and religion dies. It propagates from parent to child, like some
parasitic disease. |

Yes, religion does do that. It also makes them ignorant, power-crazy, makes
them think they are better than everyone else, and a whole lot of other
things. (I am an atheist.) |

I'm pagin, which is a nature based religion. But, I can see where you
come from. Honestly, it takes a man and a woman to make a child. Naturally
we should have a god and a goddess. That's what my religion says.
That's what I believe. There are too many close minded people in this
world. |
