Why build a less efficient software wrapper on something that works a lot better in itself? Why are you doing such things Microsoft? You're not making future better, you make it weaker just for the sake of your own good - great policy...
What will happen to my Autocad ADT, VIZ and Revit programs and how about all the other professional software needing OGL? I'm not buying vista to crippling them, nor will I spend money on updating software to become "vista d3d compatible". OGL 2.1 MUST BE implemented.
All *real* professional CAD-Software (Catia, Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER) depends on OpenGL as an Industry Standard.
Sorry Microsoft, this kind of treating OpenGL in Vista ist not wise!!!
Without full OpenGL support Vista will cripple TONS of stuff ppl need for work and projects, and what about cross-platform? Want all opengl modelers/programmers to go to macos/linux? well good way to stop there monopoly i'd say..
the lack of opengl support is retarded.
this decision completely eliminates any attraction towards vista for gaming, i can't even run counter-strike with a good 80+ fps on vista with direct3d, ati has no icd's for opengl and opengl doesn't even load on the hl engine. 3.0 prescott @ 3.75 ghz, 2gb pc4000, 9800XT 256mb
I thought you were supposed to be making things better with this OS not making things worse. Sounds like you feel threatened by OpenGL and thus want to limit it's use so your DX10 can stand out.
well thanks to the whole opengl thing i've decided to do the only thing i can, permanently switch to linux which quite happily supports all my favourite opengl games and i hope many more will follow
Windows vista without Opengl = redicilus. just in that words. Very popular games , for example Counter strike cant run proparly without OPENGL.
good luck
