We support responsible pet ownership as a millennia/centuries-old societal practice and citizen right. We support animal organizations that promote responsible pet ownership. We support spay and neuter options for pet owners, as recommended by their veterinarians. We support governments' efforts to promote responsible pet ownership when such efforts are fair and balanced.

Original Proposed Bill- http://tinyurl.com/yrgt87

Amended Proposed Bill (Read carefully)- http://tinyurl.com/2yegh2

AB 1634, as proposed, is not fair and balanced legislation. AB 1634 seeks to tax, through burdensome higher license and permit fees, pet owners who choose to keep their animals intact without defining what compelling need would be met by such taxation. AB 1634 seeks to mandate that all cats and dogs be spayed or neutered, with few exceptions, whether they are owned or not, whether they are state residents or not. AB 1634 seeks further restriction on responsible pet owners who properly care for their intact pets, falsely supposedly to cure problems caused by irresponsible pet owners who do not properly care for their intact animals. AB 1634 seeks to set a statewide umbrella of legislative requirement with undefined local jurisdictional direction for equal treatment of all citizens or limitations for license fees, permit fees, taxes, etc. Local and regional jurisdictions could set whatever fees or taxes they deem "necessary" without local citizenry review and approval, to be in compliance with this bad legislation.

National, regional and local responsible pet owners organizations and their members oppose AB 1634 because it is bad legislation. Many of AB 1634's faults and weaknesses have been described by these organizations in their stated opposition.

I support this petition to appose ab1634. I have 2 dogs who we have taken care of for 13 years without the government stepping in. This is just another scam to get more money out of responsible people my dogs are old and could be traumatized or worse by this so late in life. While the irresponsible will just not report that they have animals to avoid paying.

No on AB1634 because it will not solve the problems it purports to solve, and it creates worse ones.

Before the assembly votes on this again, please read between the lines and consider what is in the best interest of all involved. This bill is far more detrimental than it is helpful. Owner education is the way to go about this.

I make sure my shelter adoptions are spayed/neutered. Ferals are another issue and their caretakers should not be punished for owner relinquishment and lack of care by animal control agencies.

I oppose this bill very strongly. Plus it will be hard to enforce and is going to kill the legitimate breeding and showing trades. Most important it is bad for dogs. Maybe if we spay/neuter the owners we may get a better response.

AB 1634 is a horrid thoughtless bill that will destroy great animals, the companions to mankind doing damage to the four month old pet population by spay/ neuter at that age will cause growth problems and an end to the working dog breeds that serve our great country Stop this Bill from passing!!!!!
