Great...more useless, disposable crap to put in our landfills. We import the junk, sell it at Walmart, use it for less than a year, then bury it in the ground.
NO WALMART! Let's keep small-town Blacksburg small-town. There are already enough empty buildings in both Blacksburg (including the empty spaces in Kent Square) AND Christiansburg. And it's too close to the day care and Beeks elementary - think about the traffic mess it would create. Walmart is 10 minutes away, let's keep it that way!
No Wal-Mart! Why do we need one in town while there is one in Christiansburg? Another Wal-Mart is in Fairlawn! This is crazy. I support a lot of the "Mom & Pop" stores in Blacksburg. NO MORE WAL-MARTS!!!!!!
Keep Blacksburg's special character. Say no to excessive traffic and sameness. Big box stores are already close enough. Support well considered growth.
The addition of a box store such as WalMart seems counter to the idea of "The Boulevards" not to mention the safety concerns about a high traffic area next to an elementary school.
how many walmarts does a 50-square-mile radius need? I am VERY against this for different reasons, and generally if something is needed, so sacrifices can be made, but this isn't even needed!
As a longtime Blacksburg taxpayer and resident, I am tired of the sprawl and decrease in quality of life that the town keeps pushing on us (both directly and tacitly by allowing the development that it already has). Please stop this while you still can.
As a small business owner who has been negatively affected by a Walmart opened in my vicinity here in Va Beach, I can assure you that there will be wide ranging negative repercussions if this Walmart comes to be.Please, help retain Blacksburg's unique small town feel- talk to everyone you know and let them know what's at stake.
There is a charm that is left in some small towns in America. Blacksburg is one of them that hangs on to the mom and pop hardware stores, book stores, and eateries. There are even smaller grocery stores that are now threatened by the possible of a Walmart.
There are things to be savored and appreciated by the towns that are still their own without the American strip mall stamp of walmart. There are jobs to be saved and a specialty that is gone once Walmart comes in.
Stores in downtown Blacksburg are already struggling enough as it is. Why completely kill them off with a big store like Walmart? Does no one respect the small family business anymore?
Want a Walmart in your backyard? Here's a simple solution: Move to Christiansburg.
If I want to go to walmart, I can drive 10 minutes to Christiansburg. If I wanted to live next to a Walmart, I would move 10 minuets away to Christiansburg
