I'm actually doing a segment for our little news station on this topic. In my opinion, rock is the better choice. Rock has been around for decades and it's caused a great movement in society. Rap is basically saying (from my point of view) that material objects are the most important thing. Which is not true. I think that some of the lyrics in rap are demeaning to women, calling them whores and sluts. NEWSFLASH! We aren't objects for you to use men! The lyrics also contain things about cheating (I'm not saying all the time) and drug use. It doesn't give a good message to children. Just the other day, for example, my little brother of age 11 came in my room to show me his new clothes. I almost had a heart attack. His pants were baggy, showing off his little boxers, and just plain crazy. He said, "It's cool! You just don't know! AND, the guy who sold these threads to me said if I wear them I'll get laid one day!" I almost died. I was furious. These rappers, I admit, some are decent and I'm sure good people, but for gods sake, STOP POISONING OUR CHILDREN'S HEADS!!! Please take it into consideration that rock is really the better choice for children. And I KNOW that you rap lovers are saying that there are bad things in rock too, but it's not as bad as rap.
