It is not practical to assume the Government can afford the time and money it would take to uphold this bill. Don't waste our time and money by passing it.

I support a common sense approach to dog ownership and breeding. PAWS however is not well thought out and will NOT accomplish anything to protect animals or owners. It will serve only mass producers who have only money as motivation. Private breeders who hold the dogs close in their hearts will be eliminated.
This legislation is a sham, with attempts to control the very people that are improving the breeds and properly caring for their dogs. They are wasting resources that should be used to enforce laws that are already in effect, particularly against puppy mills.
This bill
would will hurt responsible and reputable breeders of purebred dogs ---- perhaps to the point where they can no longer remain in the fancy. There will be fewer well bred pets from breeders who breed to improve the breed. Only the commercial profit motivated entities will be able to survive under the peramiteres set foth by this bill. If Paws Passes it will also have dire consequences on those who rescue and place homeless pets. This is a poorly worded and misguided bill --- Please do not pass this legislation that will effectively put an end to the dog fancy and the dilligent hobby breeders who work so hard to leave their respective breeds better off then they found them.
President, German shepherd Dog Club of Greater Kansas City. We strongly oppose PAWS because we see no reason to allow the US Government additional inspection opportunities when they are failing to properly inspect and police the puppy mills and other animal facilities.
Frederick Douglass said it best: "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." I am a registered voter and a dog owner. And I will *NOT* quietly submit!!!
As a RESPONSIBLE breeder of German Shepherd Dogs.......AND the 2005 Hero Dog from the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, I am completley opposed to this bill.
Why try to regulate a "problem" when it doesn't really exist? Perhaps private cat breeders are the easiest to pick on in this day and age of $$$ lobbyists. The question is, who really benefits from this regulation?
This bill
would be extremely detrimental to responsible and reputable breeders of purebred dogs as well as to those who rescue and place homeless pets.
This bill will hinder responsible breeders who take improving the standards of all breeds very seriously. How ever the puppymills should be happy about this bill passing.
This is just a first step. Once they get this passed they will beable to bring the numbers down to snuff out even the most responsable breeders. Then where will your dogs comefrom? Puppy mills that escape detection, or mixed breeds? I really don't want to think like that.
This bill hurts responsible show/hobby breeders and rescue organizations. It does little if anything to stop puppy mills. Please vote against this bill.
The government needs to enforce the existing laws on the books instead of creating new ones that will do nothing to stop those who are already operating outside the rules. Only the responsible, quality breeders will be harmed if this bill passes. The government has enough work to do and does not need to pass poorly written bills that will not help anyone but will greatly harm many honest people. You cannot legislate honesty. Please vote AGAINST PAWS!
Please vote against the PAWS 2005. It is not clearly written and very difficult to understand. I do not believe it will solve any problems concerning puppy mills or mass breeding but instead will create a burden on our government trying to enforce it!
The legislation that Sen. Santorum has proposed will produce a costly and unnecessary workload on the government in a country where citizens are complaining about government controls. It also will cause a burden on responsible pet breeders without ability to enforce the law on those who will not register or record the birth of their pets.
Please vote AGAINST PAWS 2005 SB1139/HB2669. The present legislation, properly enforced will prevent mass breedings, not new legislation controling those involved in the "sport" of dog showing.
The PAWS bill does absolutely NOTHING to address the issues it makes claims to. But it WILL hurt may of the most conscientious breeders/rescues out there now. Further more it will result in the sever infringement on personal rights and property while doing nothing.
I OPPOSE PAWS 2005, SB1139/HB2669. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW THIS PIECE OF LEGISLATURE. THIS IS AGAINST BREED CLUBS, THE SPORT. WRITE A BILL TO SUPPORT RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP/ BREEDING INSTEAD OF THIS PAWS 2005 BILL. OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE VAST WORLD OF DOG SPORTS!
This bill as writtem will NOT solve the problems that are created by unknowledgeable breeders who mass produce puppies, with out the knowledge and ethic's to provide qualtiy, healthy purebred dogs.
