This bill is over the top stupid for small hobby breeders! I whelp my pups in my home so I can help if needed. I also let my dogs run with me on our property and play together like dogs should. with this bill it sounds like I wouldn't be able to do these things anymore. What are they thinking? My breeding dogs are also my pets that I love and I would never want to raise them like this bill states that I should. I am proud of the fact that I raise my pups in my home not a kennel. What are they thinking? These are dogs and family pets, not cattle!
This bill will end our fight with puppy mills. they all will be puppy mills and the wonderful home bred puppies will have to be sold on the black market. This will the life of our inside home animals and we all love to snuggle with our babies. Well puppy mill dogs are not raised nor can they be trained at that age of selling. The major growth patterns have already been set. We cannot do away with the in-home hobby breeder under the Bill of Rights that we have the right to be self-employed. Our country was built based on that as the major goala nd reason for this protection. Put the backdoor and puppy mills to death by law as they have all these babies for allt hese years. The breeding should be done in homes on a hobby level for the best outcome. This bill cannot pass, it is unconstitunional.kay clark
As a loving pet owner and small scale breeder I can appreciate the GENUINE desire to protect the life/lives of any animal injustly bred or sold; HOWEVER a bill like this really doesn't protect the ANIMAL does it? It just insures that the government gets THEIR piece of whatever you might have or get from selling or breeding your loved pet(s)---furthermore; if the U.S. government is authentically concerned with the welfare of the ANIMALS, why not make up a bill/law that NO animal can be sold (PERIOD) without proper papers and health certificates!? Afterall; that's what this bill will end up doing eventually....forcing all small scale dog and cat breeders to sell their animals unregistered via pet stores, newspapers, word of mouth, and from street corners and garage sales! This bill will do nothing for the hobby/small scale breeder/pet owner/pet show competitor but PUT THEM OUT OF THE RING and OUT OF BUSINESS! Get ready Humane Societies of the U.S.A. because if this bill is passed you're going to be bombarded with sickly 'pure bred' animals here in the real NEAR future! SAY NO TO THIS BILL EVERYONE!
This bill will only further irresponsible breeders who breed and sell animals 'under the table' without papers/shots/proper nutrition/socialization/e tc! This bill does nothing for the RESPONSIBLE pet owners/hobby breeders who properly 'go by the rules' of TICA/CFA/AKC/CKC/ETC. to breed/show/and sell pets to other RESPONSIBLE people-- this bill is an open invitation for every slum back-yad-breeder in the U.S.A. to sell sick/underage/non-vaccina ted kittens and puppies for a quick buck without having to every say a word to 'uncle sam'...and no one gets hurt but the HONEST and REPUTABLE people who DOCUMENT everything and the poor animals owned by all the irresponsible breeders out there! I VOTE NO NO NO ON THIS BILL!!!
With all of the many much more important issues which face our country and nation today, it just amazes me that our government officials have time to apply unfair controls over hobby dog breeders which will simply lead to more and more restrictions and control, and will be the sad farewell and end to the sport of breeding and showing dogs, I'm sure our ancesters from the past who established this hobby and sport would be appalled at the influence that the current extremists have applied to our current freedom and rights...this has got to stop! PLease do not consider this outrageous bill.
This legislation will support commercial breeders who don't have the parent animals on site or can give out a list of bloodlines going back several generations. This will also wipe out most of the responsible home/small breeders.
You should be going after the puppy mills that don't care about the dogs they produce just the cash. This bill will hurt the responsible hobby breeder.
Will hurt responsible hobby breeders who breed with the betterment of their chosen breed in mind, and promote commercial breeders for profit and the ones who will loose the most are the ones who cannot speak for themselves! Shame on those of you who suppots this bill.
What's the deal.Worry about things that are going to make a diffrence. This is going to hurt many People. And AKC going to get RICH.......I'll never get another Pet if this happens.
The only thing this bill will do is punish the people who responsibly breed for bettering the purebred dog health and temperament wise, and then let the puppy millers and commercial breeders breed animals for profit and not for the betterment or health of the animals.
While I agree that there is a need for expansion of the AWA, I do not agree that this bill (PAWS) contains the wording, the fore-thought or the necessary enforcement capabilities to be effective. Instead of being effective against the very commercial breeders that prompted the bill, it will punish individual citizens & small breeders, as well as rescuers. These rescuers create a niche that takes financial burden from the states/cites. The poorly worded PAWS bill will hamper these volunteer rescue groups & thus cause further financial burden on the governmental entities.
This is not the law that we need.
We need a law requiring that all dogs and cats that are not registered purebreds to be spayed or neutered.
We do not need more mixed breed dogs/cats in the world. They are dying by the hundreds of thousands yearly in this country, in "shelters", hit by cars, killed by other animals and by starvation.
Breeding well adjusted well socialized dogs has been a hobby of mine for years. If PAWS is passed, I foresee a time when no one will be able to breed "good" dogs in their own home. Dogs will only be availible from licensed puppy farms, ( used to be called mills ). The AKC has turned it's back on it's fanciers, in order to back commerical breeding.
This bill is poorly written and will put breed rescue and legitimate hobby breeders out of business while leaving the puppy mills and backyard breeders to continue mistreating animals.
