I support this petition. I'm saddened by the fact that the government wants to micro manage every aspect of the average American's life. PAWS and NAIS both work to limit the joy of animal husbandry. My animals have been a bright spot in this depressing world. Now, Big Brother want to stick his BIG nose into that as well. I will use my vote as way to be heard and hope that others will as well!

I support this petition. I believe that responsible breeders should have the right to breed their animals. As a breeder of rabbits, guinea pigs, and AKC registered Labs, I think that it is a slap in the face to responsible pet owners and breeders to make it harder to breed registerable quality animals.

This bill is poorly written and will not help anyone or anything. AKC may support PAWS, but well over 75% of AKC breeders do not support it. Shame on the AKC. The laws on the books now, need to be enforced, not simply pass more poorly written bills.

Please support this petition and denounce this piece of legislation. This bill, as proposed, would do nothing to benefit the responsible, caring, and knowledgable breeders out there, and everything to encourage yet more wholesale pet operations. In their neverending agenda to "save the animals", the Animal Rights Organizations are, yet again, targeting the innapropriate parties and, by doing so, supporting those who should actually be targeted. It is my fervent hope that this bill is defeated until further review can redefine the tenants contained therein. Hopefully, it will be a review done by people versed in the breeding and care of companion animals.

I support this petition. PAWS is just a tool for Animal Right (AR) groups agenda. Animal RIGHTS or Animal WELFARE? Do YOU know the difference? Animal Welfare supports humane use and treatment of animals and believes that humans have a responsibility to care for animals. Animal Welfare includes humane treatment and responsible care of animals used by humans for service, research, food, education, kept in zoos or sanctuaries, and especially those animals kept by pet owners. Animal Rights (AR) is based on moral and ethical philosophies. While Animals Rights Advocates and Groups talk about humane care, the bottom line is to work for humane care and legislation ONLY until all animals can be removed from human use. The reason for this is the Animal Rights belief that no species on this planet is better than another; therefore, humans have no right to dominate over, use, breed, or eat non-human species.

I support this petition.I can't believe that AKC is back this thing . If the small breeders are close down that to me means that this new puppy mill will be able ask any price they want for their puppies and leaving a lot of people have to go to the Animal shelters for their pets as the cost will be to high for most people that want full breed dog or cat. And all those pets will be fixed and a dog are cat only lives how many years top 15-20 so there will be no mix breeds after a few year for pets so only the ones that can pay the high price for a pet will be able to have a pet.And there will be no need for all the vets out there as the pet with be cut down so small in numbers that one are tow vets in 500 mile area can handle all the dogs and cats that the ones that have them .First they start with dogs and cats what next people will not be aloud to have kids are the number of kids will be cut down to what the PAW (Government)people think we should have is this China are the U.S.A.?

I support this petition. It's ashame that the general public has been fooled for years were P.A.W.S. is concerned. These hidious animal haters have used celeberaties and more to promote their anti animal agency. Unfortunately these celebrites are probably just the ignorant pawns that will look rediculous when they finally do learn the truth. Breeders have been made out to look like criminals, where in fact you have only to check the internet, where you will find many many stories of the outrageous acts P.A.W.S. has carried out in the name of protecting the animals. When you promote a law that makes Man's Best Friend, mearly livestock, this is a crime. Most breeders are not rich, puppy millers, who can go out and find 600+ poor quallty dogs and breed them to death. These are the people that need the attention put on them. Most breeders, spend every dime they make, putting back into their breed and their animals. The hobby breeder is a totally different animal than a back yard breeder. Many breeders spend their entire lives working to better their breed. A dog raised and then bred over and over in a confined kennel area or a cage is a dog deprived of love and attention. Dogs are not hamsters.A breeder who sells a puppy to one of these types of breeders is no better. It's sad that this Government would even think to become involved with yet another ignorant law or action. There's enough corruption going on now. P.A.W.S. is in NO WAY involved with the wellbeing of animals. It's amazing that this country continues to elect those people who are in NO WAY looking out for the good of the people, let alone the peoples DOG's. This Act only goes to furture show how ignorant and or corrupt the polititions we have really are. Stop listening to those insane people in that agency and seek the truth. Then at least we will know the truth. because if this passes we will know that there is more corruption in government then we had even i

I support this petition. This is a poorly written amendment to the Animal Welfare Act and would do nothing for the true benefit of animals. Senator Santorum has a proven track record of corruption and I wonder where his true motivation is coming from to write and support SB1139/HB2669. Our government has much more pressing matters at hand. Our government and Senator Santorum should be addressing matters like the millions of American citizens living below the poverty level or a deficit that is in the Trillions. The U.S. Government does not have the resources to undertake the enforcement of more government inspections and regulations. I strongly support this petition.

I strongly support this petition. The government has a law in place to provide for animal welfare. PAWS intrudes on basic rights and does nothing for the welfare of animals. Furthermore, the proposal is aimed at the wrong people for the wrong reasons. The extreme animal activist groups are continually searching for ways to control all aspects of animal ownership and use. Let's concentrate on the mass producers of pets and not the small hobby kennels or catteries who enjoy the sport of showing their carefully bred animals and occasionally have pets to place in loving homes. I find it appalling that AKC has aligned itself with this bill.

I support this petition. As a long time cat breeder of 20 yrs. I find this to provide NO benefit to the public looking for a healthy high quality pet, especially in cats as cats are diffcult to manage when the females go into season/heats every 10 to 14 days if not bred which does cause concern to their well being and health. This bill is very poorly written! As a daugther and grand daughter of VETs who fought and protect my american rights I am shock to have "my" government deciding to come in my home and tell me what to do with my animals when they are not a veterinarian and don't know anything about proper feline care!

I support this petition. I raise high quality toy poodles. They are my babies. They are raised in home with love, dignity, affection and children. This new law will change all of this and I will have to raise my sweet babies in lab conditions in some special building in lab conditions. The main thing that will be missing is the continued exposure to a family lifestyle. Big Brother, nothing I am doing is unconstitutional, or infringing on anyone elses constitutional rights how can this law make sense when it is protecting the rights of NO ONE? And damaging wonderful conditions to raise good quality pets. I say NO NO NO. I respectfully ask you to oppose the new legislation.

I support this petition. This bill is totally agaisnt our constitutional rights as Americans to persue the happiness of having at out feet the company of beautifully and carefully bred pets. There are many people in this world who would be unhappy without that pleasure. Happiness also comes in creating carefully selected animals with the best of everything through expensive genetic screening, to give the general public the best pets available. This is how the responsible small breeder operates. With the proposed legislation, many responsible small breeders would be forced to quit. The public would then be at the mercy of the large puppy milss who mass-produce animals of indiscriminate breeding, both in health and background. There is no place for animal activists in our society - their goal seems to be to infringe on Human rights. I am apalled that the American Kennel Club supports this bill. It is against their best interests as well. Dear Government FOR THE PEOPLE- vote NO on this legislation. Prove your worth.

I support this petition. It amazes me that our legislators would waste their time discussing proposals that will prevent responsible breeders of purebred dogs from continuing. One result of this will be the slow demise of the beautiful show dogs. The worst result will be that pet buyers will only be able to find mass produced pets (puppy mills) that can afford to meet the new guidelines. There is nothing in this that will aid in the prevention of animal abuse or provide a better pet for the public.

I support this petition. I am embarrassed that AKC has aligned themselves with these homeland terrorist groups that want to END ownership or use of ANY animals. These people are radicals that would rather see a dog put to death than to be owned and cared for by humans. The sad part is that they have collected huge funds from people that THOUGHT they were giving their money to care for abused or homeless animals. PAWS plays right into their hands, taking away HUMAN RIGHTS.

I find it rather odd that our Congress wants to align themselves with known internal terrorist groups like ALF and PETA to try to force decent taxpayers with a nice family hobby of breeding and showing cats and dogs to stop! I believe it is our right to own the dog/cat of our choice and should not be regulated by Congress in any way, shape, form! There are already many local laws against animal abuse, so the government has no business in our business--especially a Republican sponsored bill where they claim to want big gov't OUT of our lives! Another monumental waste of our tax dollars by our Congress.

It is not in the best interest of Americans, or their animals to support a bill that infringes on our privacy, or right to prosper. Hobbyists are highly aware, and consistant with excellent care of animals born in their home. Unlike puppy mills. We already have laws that address those types of situations. Please vote NO to Paws, and keep America free from laws that only serve ratical extreme groups. PETA for one ought to be banished for all of the evilness within its orginization. They are known to have beautiful, healthy animals killed so they can't have a good home. What kind of sense does that make? But the politians, and law makers just follow the money. Americans just say NO to relinquishing our freedom and rights to panderers! I hope you just say NO too!

I support this petition. Federal regulation of hobbyist breeders will result in a cost-ineffective bureaucracy targeting and eliminating the small responsible breeders who raise their kittens and puppies inside their homes and carefully select the homes into which these pets are released. Furthermore, lumping puppies and kittens together disregards their very elemental reproductive differences. I believe that this bill is simply a first step for the implementation of PETA's ultimate goal of eliminating pet ownership altogether. This bill will also negatively impact one of the hallmarks of responsible breeders, which is breed rescue. I would ask you to please carefully consider the long-term implications of this bill upon the American public and make your vote a NO vote.

I think the govenment has enough of it's hand than trying to control every hobby breeder of dogs & cats in the US along with commerical breeders which already are subject to USDA controls. Wouldnot hurt to inspect them more often and tighten uphumantiarin controls for innocent dogs raised in those terrible envirnments, instead of grouping concientious hoppy breeders in to one catagory. Who do you think is going to pay for all of that red tape and personal?

Pedigreed cats represent only 2-5% of the cat population and do not need federal regulation, as they are not raised nor trafficked in the way that dogs are.
