I breed Yorkies -- in MY HOME. This is an invasion of my private rights. My animals need love, attention, NOT CAGES, and impersonal handlers who are paid, and who care nothing for the pets. The only ones who benefit are possibly the HUNT CORPORATION, who sales truckloads from the Midwest puppy mills, and are unhappy that we cut into their profit. By the way, their price for a puppy is twice as high as mine.

Setting numeric limits as the standard for federal licensing and inspection will not improve the ability of the Goverment to enforce the AWA. Federal regulation should only concern itself with wholesalers that sell the majority of the pat animals they produce through third party retailers to protect the public. Federal inspection of hobby breeders is akin to OSHA licensing and inspecting the backyard woodshop. Private breeders that sell diretly to the public should be covered by local laws and inspected by the persons they are selling directly to.

Stop wasting tax dollars. Stop trying to control our lives. You are suppose to be protecting our rights and freedoms as American citizens, instead you keep voting on "WHAT ELSE CAN WE TAKE FROM THEM!" It all comes down to the almighty dollar. Stop spending millions to watch bugs have sex, to see how far out the galaxy goes. Come back home, get realistic, re-read the Declaration of Independence, and do the job you are suppose to be doing. I think we can figure out for ourselves where to purchase a dog. Go back to protecting our country, figuring out ways to lower prices, the things you should be doing. This is proof that our government is "going to the dogs."

Please vote no on the bill... It will hurt the people that have the best breeding practices for the dogs.. This will only make it easier for the puppy mills to operate and breed unhealthy dogs.. We need people to be able to get a healthy and happy pet.. Not only are the rights of the people being taken away but so are the rights of the animals.. Please reconsiderthe bill and VOTE NO...

This bill will only isolate pets from the human contact they crave and need! What they need is proper socialization, not isolation. This bill only hurts pets and the people who love and care for them..i.e. responsible breeders, not puppie/kitten mills who already isolate their animals because they have too many to properly socialize them and give them the love they need.Or to care for them like an in home breeder will do.

Dogs are children to me and a lot of people . i just had a customer come by the other day and the puppy i sold him has saved his marriage. This young couple can not have children and he (MAX0 is their one and only child. There are many more people like this . Just go to a vets office and see how many caring people are in there with their babies. My puppies are sold only to approved homes and there are lots of kennels out their like that and we should not be punished because of the strays that are not taken care of . The akc and registered dogs (some ) are taken care of better than most people's children. I even have a puppy in Kamas and his older brother has had open heart surgery twice and when he passed away that bought a puppy from me. That is the kind of homes Most Akc Breeders get for their puppies. I do not think our puppies and we as breeders need to suffer from this.

Please do not pass this bill. You will be hurting the people that love their animals the most, the small hobby breeders and show persons. Showing dogs that you have bred yourself is a most rewarding experience. Small hobby breeders have specific goals and breeding to improve their dogs is the number one goal they have. Do not pass this bill as it will only hurt the ones that are working the hardest to breed the best. Go after the puppy mills who breed to make money and do not care about improving their dogs. They breed for one thing and that is money. Good breeders rarely if ever make any money on their dogs. We pay dearly to take care of our dogs and they are members of the family. Don't let a few uneducated people ruin the lives of many. Stop the bill.

While I would not be affected, many honorable breeders and rescuers would be adversely compromised. There is nothing in SB1139/HB2669 that will prevent commercial breeders from continuing to produce poor quality animals that they care nothing about beyond the almighty dollar. The concerned breeders can and will be affected. Further, government inspection of a private home for the purpose of enforcing rules on breeder hobbyists smacks of a "Gestapo state."

This bill is unjust and unfair, and will only benefit the commercial breeders and puppy-millers, and provide no more regulation than they have already. These are not the responsible, animal loving people but the ones who are only looking to make a profit off of others naivete. This will greatly impact and hurt the responsible, hobbyist breeder who has spent years of dedication to a specific breed that they love. The purebred dogs as we know them will be no more. Please do not pass this bill, it will much more harm than any good. It will also give the government more authority to invade the personal lifes and interests of the dedicated and resposible people.

AKC FOUND A WAY TO INCRESE REVENUE THROUGH REQUIRING DNA TESTING ON OUR STUDS. IF AKC ENDORSES THIS, THEY WILL LOOSE A LOT OF MONEY AS REPUTABLE, QUAILTY BREEDERS GO ELSWHERE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS USUALLY MONEY. LOOK CLOSLY AT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS BILL. TARGET THE PUPPY MILLS, THERE'S MORE MONEY TO BE MADE HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE "PRODUCT" THEY SELL. ANY TIME A BUSINESS HAS FORCED REGULATIONS, THE RESULT IS LOSS IN REVENUE. I LOVE MY DOGS! EVERY ONE IS PART OF MY FAMILY. I PURCHASED A HOME PURPOSLY TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAWS. I PAY MY TAXES, AND OWN MY HOME. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ME WHAT I CAN/OR CANNOT DO WITH MY LOVED ONES. MAYBE SOMEONE NEEDS TO CALL ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES TO LISENCE AND REGULATE HOW YOU CARE FOR YOUR ELDERLY PARENTS. EVERYONE WHO IS PLANNING TO HAVE A CHILD SHOULD BE LISENCED AND REGULATED BY THE GOVERNMENT BEFORE BECOMMING PREGNANT. GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORITIES, IS THE REGULATION DOGS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE COUNTRY'S CITIZENS. SEEMS TO ME YOU HAVE A WARPED SENCE OF RESPONSABILITY. AS A PSYCHIATRIC SOCIAL WORKER, I CAN TELL YOU, THE ONLY ONES AFFECTED WILL BE THOSE WHO CARE.

As two persons raised in a farm enviroment with many animals around us as childeren, it has been our lifelong enjoyment and LOVE of animals that keeps us having our dogs around us. as farms disappear into cities and Cows and Horses can not be kept on small homesteads, dogs can remain the one thing that people can keep as pets and breed them without owning 100 or more acres. animal rights groups are made up of more and more people from cities who do not understand the joy of have pets at their sides and the calm and peaceful feeling of caring for gods creatures... to approve this bill is to go against our forefathers who made this country by farming and against the people of this land who truly care for their animals. DO NOT PASS THIS BILL!!!!!!!

My family and I love the animals we have and most of the time they have been better taken care of than the rest of us! We love what we do and this bill is ridiculous..there needs to be means to it that won't hurt the GOOD animal people! TARGET puppy mills yes but not us who care and love our animals and could not live without them. It really upsets me that AKC would back this bill, I would lose respect for their organization if they don't try to stop it and make things right. AKC you should be ashamed of yourself if you sit back and do nothing about this. HELP us, we have stuck by you, now stick by us and get this bill STOPPED!

The passing of this bill will have negative repercussions that outweigh any good intention. Some breeders will increase their numbers and litters simply because if they are going to be inspected by USDA anyway, they might as well increase their numbers and thus their pocketbooks. The smaller more reputable breeders such as myself will either quit altogether or drastically reduce their breeding. The best and most responsible breeding comes from the small breeder, who will become extinct, or be forced into other registries. I have always viewed AKC as the only registry that I would consider. I now find myself viewing other registries. I am sure I am not the only small breeder looking at other options.

I support responsible ownership, care, welfare and am fully against neglect, maltreatment of all animals. Although, as a small hobby breeder, my love of my animals is as much as my own children. I care and love my animals and I'm not so much into the money of breeding as seeing the happiness of others when they receive a healthy dog/pup from me. I have rescued animals in the past, I have used my dogs in nursing homes for the elderly for therapy for those that have had to give up their animals because they had to go into a nursing home. The love that I see on the elderly when I bring one of my dogs(which have to be cleaned, parasite free, all shots before entering the nursing home)would make one tear up with how much they want to hold and love on my dogs. I have more pleasure in seeing them holding one of my dogs than a sell of one of my dogs. At the same time, I have seen the face of others of who have lost a pet for various reasons and when they get one from me, it practically brings tears to my eyes when I see the love on their faces and know that the baby that is going with the people, that I sold to, will love that pup/dog as much as I love mine. I am divorced and teach school. What little income I may receive from any sell of a dog or pups is minor compared to seeing the happiness of others. To pass this bill on private hobby breeders/rescuers/ individuals that use their dogs as therapy dogs for hospitals and nursing homes would destroy the love that has brought about many happy faces to others. My dogs and puppies are just as equally spoiled as if they were my children with their own beds, swimming pools, AC, toys, etc. Why should we be punished it seems when it is the puppy mills that need to be stopped. I agree on that, but please don't pass this bill for the minor hobby breeders. We are already following the law on responsible pet ownership and care.
