Ridiculous...Gavernment is already taking away too many of our rights. So, now they want to take away our animals? PETA rear your ugly head and get it chopped off...
The Paws 2005 would lower the level of care my dogs are given. This would not help only hurt the pet living in homes where they are able to play with kids, watch tv and often sleep with their owners. We must all work together to ensure dogs are treated well, PAWS 2005 is only pawing the breeders.
This bill harms the small breeder who's intentiion is to improve the quality of the animals. The hobby breeder is a respondsible breeder that makes ever effort to insure their animals are placed in the best of homes and that all animals that are petted out are neutered
This well-meaning but deeply missguided bill will only serve to
invade citizens' privacy and hinder the responsible,
concientious breeding of companion animals.
The provisions of the proposed PAWS 2005 legislation will not only pose an undue burden on responsible hobby breeders, but will also undely burden
federal agencies to the point that enforcing these provisions will be impossible.
I do not feel this is right. I do not see the gov't making farmers have a certain number of cattle/livestock, and how they are housed, etc. I do not see laws being imposed to farmers at all. Breeders have more suitable conditions for their animals, shelter, etc...our animals receive better health care also. Why is this an issue? I do not feel this is right! This is just another way for the Gov't to know our business, and to have control, make more money.
Please enforce the existing laws to control the millers. SB1139/HB2669 does little or nothing to address that issue, and whether AKC realizes it or not, will hurt its income with the decrease in litter registrations, as well as the quality of health and temperament that can only be produced by caring, devoted breeders in a PRIVATE home environment, untroubled by government busybodies. Instead, keep those government bodies busy with the enforcement of the existing laws.
I am a hobby breder and do not need the regulation that this country really needs against commercial breeders, pet shops, puppy mills and uneducated back yard breeders. Do something about them. They are the ones who fill our county's shelters.
We are a Christian family, we have been responsible hobby breeder for almost 20 years. This bill PAWS 2005 SB1139/HB2669 Will invade/limit private citizen's rights to own and breed pets which We find unacceptable. We are state regulate, AKC inspected and we have 3 Vets that send people to us to purchase a home raised , socialized puppy. This bill will infringe on our rights as a private citizen to own or sell dogs. This bill will not affect the huge Pet shop or Puppy mill breeders it will hurt the small private breeders! Please stop this bill.
Please don't pass this bill, it will hurt all of us hobby breeders. It will also hurt my children as well as myself, since I am no longer able to have children, I decided to have "fur babies" and they live in our house with us. We are not a puppy mill, and we think that you shouldn't pass this bill, but that you SHOULD do something about all of those puppy mills especially the ones that treat their animals with the least amount of love and affection that they can, just to make a few bucks!
Shouldn't we be working towards shutting puppy mills down, rather than making it easier for them to exist? To pass this law would be true shame on so many levels.
This will burden the USDA, and cut into their real work plus ruin their budget, and hurt the taxpayers even more at this time of lower incomes and higher cost of living.
Aside from being yet another infringement of what is left of our civil rights this new bill does nothing to address the problem of large puppy and kitten mills who produce poorly socialised kittens and puppies in numbers too large to truly give the animals the time and attention that they need to adapt to a loving family home environment. They are also less inclined to breed for positive health traits and more inclined to breed for sheer numbers.
The small responsible hobby breeder is breeding to improve the breed, both breeding to a very narrowly defined standard as well as breeding for the improvement of the health of the breed. Numbers are the last thing a truly responsible breeder is concerned with.
Please please do not pass this bill! The infingement on the small breeders personal rights and the rights of the animals the small responsible breeder bring into their homes are what is important here. Making it easier for the mass production of puppies and kittens is the ultimate end result of this proposal.
This bill unnecessarily restricts the ethical, with no way to fund even more supervision of the unethical. Adequate laws exist, with funding to support them. This new legislation is not needed.
this bill will only hurt the hobby breeder that breeds and raises the dogs responsibly, the current laws need to be better enforced before new ones are added.
I believe that people that make up some of these laws put animal rights above human rights. I breed to make money. this is how I support my family, if I didn't have my dogs we would starve and be homeless. I care about my dogs and take care of them properly but who is more important, my family or the dogs.
Please do not pass this bill. You should be concentrating on the many backyard breeders out there, not responsible breeders who loving raise their kitties/puppies in their homes.
Please do not pass this bill its wrong.
I am a small hobby pomeranian breeder and it has taken me 8 years to get to were i am now. Not to mention the thousand and thousand dollars i have spent to get here.I love my dogs they are my kids and live in my house with me and go camping with me ..I do not ship out of the united states and DO NOT SELL TO PUPPY MILLS OR PUPPY BROKERS/// they are the ones that need to be shut down.I buy nothing but euknuba dog food and my dogs are checked by the vets all the time and are allways updated on there shots. Im thinking this bill is all about more money for the goverment.
Please do not support this bill. It invades the homes of private citizens and does nothing to keep the puppy mills from overproducing and not properly socializing their animals.
